As a Queens New Yorker, I am really excited for this. I seldom play in casinos, and the last time I played in a Casino (Mount Aire) I was frustrated due to the lack of available tables and long wait time to play. Let's see how this casino goes!

There's no reason why we can't have something like Wynn is doing in Vegas in December, or dare I say the $25k WSOP Main in the Bahamas

I just can't see how they're not 24/7 outside of a year from opening. I would bet at least 1k on it if anyone wants to take my action haha

I say this honestly, you should lobby whomever is the Poker Room Manager for these things. You're a social media guy, and I am too, so maybe we can bend someone's ear about it. Depsite how much I dislike MGM, I do like the social media stuff they do for poker with Abby and those people. Something like that would drive a lot of traffic into the casino in general

Youd have to give me at least 10/1 odds lol. No way id take that bet at even money. And maybe its just me but while that social media stuff wsop has been doing is “necessary”, a lot of it feels forced and corny

I hope there are big tournament series/events, but that will take time doubt it will be in place off rip

Streamed games are a way to drive action to a casino/poker room. This place won't need that. What we're likely to get is some 40 table room with crazy long wait lists while the other 2 casinos aren't even built yet.
Abby is bringing zero action to mgm poker rooms. Borgata loves to use her on social media and the place is a complete ghost town. They'd be better off doing things like paying cashiers than whatever money they're wasting on her.

yeah if anything this place would need a ton of negative publicity just so we could get a seat within 2 hours of arriving there

Indirectly confirmed through a (probably mistakenly) unredacted hours of operation document. No confirmation of whether it will be part of the initial opening or if not when it would be opened.

If they’re actually opening 250 tables in March though, that’s already a huge casino, I could see them carving out 50 for poker. Bigger concern is training the staff I think.

Let's temper our expectations while at the same time, remain cautiously optimistic.

If Resorts World has taught us anything, it is that no matter the demand for poker, poker is NOT a main focus for their corporation and never will be. Look at their absolute and continued botching of Poker from 2018-present when they opened RW Catskills and to this very day (moving the room twice including its first and current location being off the casino floor and tucked into a second floor nook unviewable from the main action, plus, hiring unqualified staff who do not know poker rules, etc.), and more importantly, look at their Vegas property having NO POKER AT ALL.

RW NYC can be the only game in town here in NYC so to speak when it comes to poker, but that does not mean they will smartly "read the room" and set up a poker room akin to Tropicana circa 2001-2004 (54 tables), Borgata 2004-2014 (80+), Maryland Live (40+), or Parx, all of which is the best case scenario. Heck, their RW Catskills room is STILL not a 24 hour room, and while I realize there are fewer players in the Hudson Valley compared to NYC, they won't automatically keep the room open 24 hours just because NYC is the "city that never sleeps" and the rest of their casino might be open 24 hours. The only way to force their hand is to make sure that, from the jump, there are 40+ players willing to grind all night, every night, to warrant a change in operational hours, because they surely will not extend hours in order to accommodate one or two 1/3, 2/5, or 5/10 tables playing past 3AM.

As for large tournaments and multi-day tournament series, again, let's not get ahead of ourselves, and instead make sure that the decision makers hear on a daily basis that there will be lots of people willing to invest in it. Speaking honestly here, I would not get too excited for any WSOP circuits in NYC because Caesar's properties will not bring a Caesar-owned outfit into a rival casino; look at who hosts the circuits currently:
-Caesar's properties across the country,
-Casinos with a working relationship or a history of working relationships with Caesars (reference Turning Stone in upstate NY for whom Caesar's used to run their sports book), and,
-Independent casinos that do not try to compete with Caesar's.

Since Caesar's sees properties like MGM, Resorts World, and Hard Rock as direct competition, and Caesar's already hosts TWO WSOP circuits within a 4 hour drive/250 miles of NYC (Turning Stone and Horseshoe Baltimore), having one in NYC is unlikely unless Caesar's obtains their own license here in the Big Apple; in fact, Hard Rock TULSA is the only site slated for a WSOP circuit in 2026 owned by a major rival of Caesar's (likely because it's in the middle nowhere with no Caesar's properties for hundreds of miles).

Furthermore, even if Uncle Stevie gets a Hard Rock casino at Citi Field, I still don't see Hard Rock and Caesar's offering to partner up for a WSOP circuit because of the proximity to the other circuit events on the east coast, one of which fills 85+ tables on a daily basis in a 5,000 seat event center when it is in swing. Your best wish for multi-event week-long poker events is that the powers-that-be see the demand for poker tournaments from us the enthusiastic locals and formulate their own ala MGM/Borgata and Hard Rock Hollywood Florida.

I think, for RW NYC poker beginnings, we should be prepared for a 20-table room, 1/2 NL $300 buy-in or 1/3 NL $500 buy-in being the most common stakes game, time-rake games for those above 5/10 NL, and occasional 2/2 or 5/5 PLOs running but not the norm. I'll even concede you MIGHT (pending approval of the NYS Gaming Board) see a 5/5 or 10/10 Double board Bomb Pot game on the regular, but that might even be a stretch.

I'm all for poker in my city, I am a 15 minute drive to Aqueduct and I can walk from my house to Citi Field when that one gets up and running, and I will give RW NYC a chance to earn my poker business; but if Resorts World doesn't learn from their mistakes from RWC, I won't be frequenting the new poker room too often. Still, I want to see it succeed and I want to see our local poker community build up stronger because of a clean, comfortable room in which to play.

Yes, they will be, but again, I refer to the fact that RW does not value poker enough to give us a 15000+ square foot poker room and thus would rather use the space 20 extra poker tables would take up in order to put 100 additional slot machines which will generate them more revenue. We have to be ready for long waits, especially in the first couple of months.

If they are smart they will allow automatic sync for Bravo to connect to players cards so we can sign up virtually, then at least you can log in at 7-8AM and have a puncher's chance to get a seat when they open tables in the morning...

We are going to have to get through the initial growing pains before we see positive growth, just be ready for it...

how many slots don't actually generate much revenue anyway? That's my argument for them having a bigger room.

1. Brings people to the casino, okay you play poker but your wife/girlfriend/friends might not and go gamble elsewhere in RW.
2. Generates rake and there Will be a demand for poker.
3. Poker players also like to gamble. Even "pros" go on tilt and head to the pit on occasion.

I agree we should be cautiously optimistic especially early on but check Bravo and you'll see why it makes no sense for RW Catskills to be a 24 hour room.
Resorts World Vegas also does have a poker room.

1/2 is going extinct. 1/3 is typically the live small stakes game in today's casinos. I'd personally like to see 2/5 (200-500) replace 1/3 as the smallest game soon.
