I listened to some electronic stuff in my youth, not as much anymore. Wanted to like this more than I did. Can't say that I wasn't mostly bored by this.

This is very similar to stuff I listen to, but it's in Mandarin. I won't say that makes a massive difference, but it certainly does matter. I love listening to stuff in other languages, and Mandarin is something you rarely hear.

Like the song quite a bit. Improved on every listen.

Tossup between this and the last song for which one improved the most after repeat listens. Probably this one.

I went from meh background music to good background music to either great background music or something I could pay attention and be into.

I don't mean to be insulting by saying "background music". This type of stuff would work extremely well in an important film scene.

The first of two submissions that fit the category the best, so you are rewarded for that.

I did like what I heard, but didn't really need the interview-like format. I listened to some other stuff by this artist; I liked almost all of them more than this.

But still, decent listen and it's the kind of think I was looking for.

Some of those old blues guys will talk your head off before during and after the song.

I've always found a fatal emptiness in Prokofiev, would have preferred Shoshokovitch.

It's not my favorite song of the bunch, but this is exactly what I wanted. Never would have thought to listen to some dude and his banjo. But here I am, digging it from start to finish.

I never would have listened to that either! but there was this awesome free(mark would approve) blue grass festival in SF... really awesome artists would show up, and I was exposed to some great music I would have otherwise never appreciated

Someone missed the "doesn't suck" part of the assignment.

Fun fact, 3 years ago we did a worst Christmas songs draft over on Unstuck Politics. This was drafted first overall and was widely praised to be a good selection.

I don't think it's that bad. After all, my next pick of Christmas Shoes exists.

But still, it's terrible and I never need to hear it again.

At least that means no one submitted Paul McCartney

This is also bad and might actually be worse in terms of quality.

Have it higher because the lyrics aren't offensive and I haven't heard it a bunch before.

Well, I've heard it a bunch before, just from a much better singer.

That bit was posted right after I drafted it.

I dunno about worth it. It did somehow spawn a series of FIVE novels all of which have gotten the made-for-TV movie treatment, including one starring Neil Patrick Harris of all people.

Okay, Christmas Shoes will never be worth it. But that bit makes it palatable.

Or at least saves it from being the worst musical creation in human existence.

Massive jump in quality to things I wouldn't turn the radio to another station for.

This is decent enough, though the source material has never really connected with me. Anti-podium is more bad luck than anything. 5th through 7th all about the same to me.
