I'm a Mod (of only the Sporting Events Forum) but I can just plainly say that we should stay on topic itt for the most part, and not derail this thread wildly.

Thanks in advance. 👍

I'll definitely go and look for weak dealers.

I've been told they'll have new electronic machines for table games that do almost everything. The live dealers are just there to push things around, not calculate payouts or decide who wins. There will probably still be some advantage plays, but not like when RWC opened.

It could be me cuz I’m high, but, what?

You’re a towel.

I believe he means the table will follow along and give out winning hands etc. but that the dealer pushes/takes the chips.

I don’t know. Maybe I’m a towel too.

When RWC opened the dealers were awful and would often make mistakes that could be to your benefit. My favorite is one dealer who would pay people out at blackjack if they had a black jack in their hand.

I haven't seen them myself, but a pit boss was telling me the tables they'll have in Queens will have tech designed to eliminate these errors. They have sensors that know what chips everyone has bet and what cards are where. It tells the dealer how much to pay each person.

I don't know if they will be on every table and if they'll actually do everything they claim, but that's the word. There are probably still ways to take advantage, but they're doing their best to make dealing idiot proof.

Ahhh gotcha makes sense

Theyre attempting to pass a bill in ny that would ban live betting (betting during a match)
If that passes that would be worse than the tax bill that happened last year. What idiot came up with that idea?

bump
If they build it, fish will come, and oh will they come.

Officials have indicated construction on the Van Wyck is near completion, and should be done this year.

Will be a huge boon for RWNYC if it's not complete and utter BS, which of course it can't be, NYC DOT has never made empty promises and ran decades long construction projects before...

I dont see that construction having much impact on people going to RW

It leads directly to RW, if you're coming from northern or central Queens, northeastern Brooklyn, The Bronx, Westchester, or northern Long Island you would almost definitely be considering the Van Wyck

Dealers in RWC are still awful. As a matter of fact that room is featuring the worst collection of dealers i've ever seen and those dealers are still employed. RW better hire or train some talent or this poker room being in NYC and all, will generate huge number of conflicts and not just with PR personnel. I've heard from many players that considering the location, safety and game security will be a real concern and poker room incompetence shouldn't add to it.

Ahh ok, i keep forgetting people drive

I wouldn't worry too much about Van Wyck construction. Like death and taxes, it will always be there and always be inevitable. The Van Wyck has been under some type of major project for the better part of 28 years going back to when the AirTrain broke ground in 1998, and it won't be stopping anytime soon. There will always be a high amount of congestion in both directions on the Van Wyck from JFK Airport to the Kew Garden Interchange (Grand Central/Jackie Robinson branch-offs) during the hours of 6AM-8PM, to go along with whatever infrastructure changes are taking place.

Just drive there when it ISN'T rush hour and you'll be alright - you'll just be in a normal amount of daily NYC traffic.

Good or bad news, when do you think we get the next update? I’d assume the want at least a month of hype promotion once the open date is announced, so if it was early March the next week or two makes sense. Although I think it’s far more likely they were planning end of March, and at the end of February/beginning of March we get the update that it’s not happening until June lol

I also just realized, someone could have applied for the dealer school, and found out that way whether poker is even being considered right now for the initial opening lol

December 1 press release (about being recommended to the Gaming Commission) says "For the first phase of the casino, expected to open towards the end of March next year, ..."

And at their FAQ link (from last June, so not necessarily related to current timelines): "Two-hundred and fifty tables and 4,000 slots/ETGs would become operational within six months of receiving a commercial gaming license."

Their lack of anything isn't especially inspiring...are they just coasting on being someplace that already exists? Trying to manage expectations for the first expansion? Just bad at marketing?

The link is still open, it says the 10 week dealer school is a two introduction followed by 4 weeks of blackjack and then 4 weeks of baccarat.

Ahhh so we’re definitely cooked then lol.

Dealer school for blackjack and bacc not finished until end of March, so best bet for those games is some time in April. There’s still roulette, craps and carnival games, even if the start dealer school for that in May they won’t go live until July.

Fall 2026 probably the earliest we could possibly get poker

Yea the next round of dealer school begins end of march. You can sign up for the waiting list for that. We kinda had to know black jack and baccarat would come first

I think they gotta bring some veteran poker dealers in, at least for the initial rollout. Also it says if you deal at the casino you cant play, so no double dipping

Yea I have no interest in dealing more thinking of it as a way to find out info lol.

I agree they will/should bring in veteran dealers, but I still think they’ll have to run a dealer school for it before opening so we’re at least waiting for warm weather months :(
