Just got a text from the bar-poker league owners. One of our players passed away unexpectedly.
Bruce was quite a good player--won our last quarterly tournament, always up there among our points leaders. Even better person. Made the game fun to play and deal. Tough competitor, always took a beat with a huge amount of grace. Super nice guy, just the kind of person you always want to have in your game.
I'd guess he was early middle-aged. Not sure what the cause was. A bit heavy, could've been related to that. Quite a shock to hear.
Sorry to hear that, golddog. Did you know Bruce outside the league as well?
Sorry about your loss as well.
Here’s to hoping this does not come in 3s.

Thanks for the thoughts. No, we didn't get together outside of the league. But not for personal reasons, just in different parts of town except for poker nights.
Heard another league gave Bruce a stack, and blinded him down last night as a tribute.
I suppose that means whatever happened was either late Monday or Tuesday. Bruce made Monday's final table (which I was dealing and he finished fourth), so I think I dealt him his last hand of poker.
This both honors and saddens me.
Man, sorry to hear.
how do you think Super Bowl LX will be from a gambling perspective.props and alt lines not main markets. I’m doubtful opening lines will be materially more efficient than earlier playoff rounds? — juice similar on ATD?—- markets on the more niche stuff tightens gradually or just within the last 48-72 hours?—— if the limits increase linearly or in chunks from now until kickoff.
Are you close to Nevada?
It's been a couple years, but my friends and I used to easily get 50-60k down on good stuff. None of us are full time sports bettors either.
I bet the NHL and NBA preseason stuff this year and there was a lot of good bets, so I doubt the SB has gotten all that tough.

I live in Southern California and that’s still my base, but with some of the recent law changes and books not being available there, I’ve been doing short work trips to other states. One day I grabbed my dog and headed out.
Over the past ~6 months that’s meant time in CO / WY / KS / AZ / NM / NV, usually bouncing back to SoCal in between.
I end up in NV a lot since I don’t pay for rooms due to digital sportsbook volume, but it’s not ideal from an ROI standpoint — no real line shopping digitally and my account’s limited anyway.
I’ll be in NV for SB Sunday but probably just chilling in the room with the dog, not doing a watch party or anything.
Good luck this year in and out of gambling

I got Seahawks by 4.
Crazy ruling just now
We get to the river with EP vs button
EP bets $300 and button calls
Board is 77623
EP shows A6
Button waits 10 secs and says ‘you’re good’, waits ten secs and then pushes his cards to the middle and then shows one Queen
Dealer then reaches across and deliberately turns over the facing down card
Other card is another Queen. Dealer says ‘you win’ and passes the pot to the button
Uproar! The floor is called and backs the dealer’s decision.
Decision by the floor is correct, once the cards are revealed but the casino should make EP whole and fire the dealer, imo.
The normal practice is to take the unexposed card(s) and tap it on the muck to indicate it cannot win, then expose the card.

Do you think he was just dumping to this guy?
Years ago I was playing at MGM and befriended a guy that was obviously rich and I always kinda fear that I’m obviously poor. But just before I was heading to the airport to come home, I got a big hand against this guy.
Ended up doubling thru when he called my all-in and quietly mucked. I have no doubt that he was simply giving me that money planning to muck all the way. People have a lot of different reasons for playing this game.
It certainly doesn’t sound like a mistake in your hand, and if queens was out to help the guy, he was probably pissed too.
Is it possible the room has some sort of rule that if you show one card at showdown, the other card has to be shown as well? Or someone invoked IWTSTH? Otherwise, the dealer should have clarified if the player was showing or folding.

I've had similar stuff happen a couple times.
But yeah, I'm curious what was up with the guy who had QQ.
A little over 10 years ago at the Borgata there was a young woman playing 2/5 NL at my table. She was friendly and nice, but not a skilled poker player. She had been more or less steadily losing for about 2 hours.
She was soon all-in for the main pot on the flop, and there was a decent sized side pot contested between two people on the river. One man bet and the other folded. He was awarded the side pot.
He then mucked his hand face down, and said I only want to win this (motioning to the side pot) and that he wanted to her have the main pot: "This is for you". So the main pot (about $400) was awarded to the young woman. She thanked him very much and I could sense the $400 meant a great deal to her at the time. She then immediately left the table.

this is obviously very unlikely to happen and I have no sharp insight that this is going to happen more than it should but patriots -7.5 +630 on fanduel is insane. Pinaccle has it at +430 and it’s an arb on many books. I put a bunch on it. I’m mostly paying attention to alternate lines and sniping stuff like the above.
pistons +930 to win the central preseason looking amazing rn go Detroit!!! They’re -2000 rn on FD. I have countless +EV parlays with that as the last leg. Sucks Jokic got hurt though for so long put 1425 on him to win mvp paying out 6412.5 while chatting with Mclovin [emoji1787]
