President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Sorry to interrupt this scintillating conversation, but here's some trump news.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-h...

FWIW, if we are to build this dumb ****ing ballroom, or the Trump arch, or whatever the **** comes next, it should be funded with public money, not private donations. Doing it with private donations just encourages even more gratuitous quid pro quos between the leaders of government and the private donators.

We have moved seamlessly from a discussion of how likely it is that a man may be duped into dating a transgender woman with a penis to a discussion of whether certain transgender women are hot.

Is that progress? Not really.

You don't UNDERSTAND. These trans issues are EXTREMELY pervasive and literally affect every single facet of life as we know it. Everything else is the real derail.

I was simply trying to order coffee when a trans penis went into my mouth. I kept shaking my head no no no but it just kept going in and out. In and out. She was beautiful. Smelled like Cinnabon.

This has to stop.

as for the pushback on the apps, there’s a lot of people here who’ve never used them, or haven’t been single in a very long time, who still seem to think they’re some weird hookup culture thing

they’re not. it’s literally just dating with access

i’d have never met my partner without them. she works at a hospital on the other side of Seattle, neither of us go to bars or clubs, and outside of work our circles never overlap. maybe in some alternate universe i see her across a restaurant, but in real life you’re not walking up to a table of four women in the middle of dinner and pulling one aside for her number

and that’s the part people miss. the apps didn’t change dating, they changed where first contact happens. people don’t put themselves in random social situations to meet strangers nearly as much anymore because the old “where do i go to meet someone?” game has largely been replaced by opening an app

if you move to a new city, work in an isolated environment (most people i'm friends with in seattle are work from home like me), etc etc there's not many organic options to meet people because a large swathe of the dating population is no longer participating as they've outsourced that to the apps rather than hanging out at places they'd rather not be just on the off chance of meeting a good partner

for people actually in that market, the apps aren’t some gimmick, they’re often the only realistic bridge between two people who otherwise never would have crossed paths

Death of third spaces, late stage capitalism in full effect.

Gluten free bread is horrible ime because it falls apart so easily. I tried it for a while and then just gave up. I bake a modified version of Panasonic's sour dough (thanks GPT, you have your uses) that's far better.

idk what they have over there, but in USA#9 the key is to buy every brand once because there's a huge range of outcomes in it - udis is the everywhere and absolutely disgusting

udis makes a reasonable english muffin though

but toasting something to 11 can often salvage it because that "fixes" the bad texture

favorites are franz breads and o'doughs bagels - any buns of any sort are garbage and will opt to eat my brat or burger with regular gf bread instead

wafer thin, more of a pita than a bagel in shape but it's the only way to make it work, otherwise you're putting your spread on top of fleshy playdough

this one is pretty good, so much that my gf prefers over regular bread - which kind of destroys the inner nit in me because gf bread is outrageously over priced - at least she doesn't prefer the gf bagels

those o'doughs are $4 in maine, $7 in seattle, the bread is like $9 :(

I don't think they are a gimmick. They are widely used by people in every age bracket as far as I can tell. They certainly are used by people who get divorced. I've known many people who used dating apps in that situation.

I have never known anyone who unknowingly ended up dating a transgender person with whom they matched on a dating app. I'm sure that happens very occasionally because everything seems to happen very occasionally, but it was not a source of worry for any of the people I know.

Are you sure you ordered coffee?

Are you more scared of coming across a female you didn't know is trans, or eating a meal you didn't know contained gluten?

he must've ordered covfefe

not scared of either, one is wasted time and effort towards a dead end, the other means i'll have migraines, stomach pain, horrendous gas, constant bathroom visits, and blisters form all over my skin - so if i had to choose, i'd prefer to go on a first date with a trans woman and then find out i was wasting time on it after the fact than have a meal full of gluten

fwiw, given my time in asia, where they are more open and understanding of it than they are in the west, i've likely had far more time hanging out with and socializing with trans people than most of the people who mistakingly belief i can't stand them because i don't want to invest time and energy in dating them

think of it like roc, i have zero interest in cuddling him, kissing him, or anything else that doesn't even directly involve his penis, yet i still have profound respect for him and he's on my bucket list of 2p2ers to meet up with in person one day - the two thoughts are not mutually exclusive - in fact, i'm sure roc feels the same way and is happy that's how i feel to boot

I guarantee rick has been with a trans woman before. I can smell the chaser on him from a mile away.

and there it is. post anything reasonable about trans stuff that isn't full cheerleading and you get "i bet you're secretly into them." think about what you just said. you're using the idea someone might want to date one as an insult - stuff that's genuinely transphobic as opposed to my measured discussion of common sense logistics

just like how vic talked about it happening on UP

and wtf is with a chaser? are they tequila shots?

I sympathize with people that need to be gluten free for medical reasons, but their constant "It tastes pretty good, really" needs to stop.

The horror.

Would you rather talk about how comfortable you are with your date having a penis?

lmao I literally don’t care if you’ve been with a trans woman dude. you’re triggered over nothing.

I’m also not the one to be calling out about being called transphobic. I don’t even use the word because I think it’s dumb.

Is this a binary choice?

But what if roc got fixed and looked like that Ted chick you said was gorgeous? Then you'd have it all, no?

I'm afraid that I'm not quite young enough to pull that off.

Apparently.
