TV: what have you been watching?
I think The Walking Dead may be the best drama thats currently airing/in production.
There, I said it.
And there's another Yellowstone spinoff coming out soon centred around possibly the most unlikeable tv character of the last decade. Who the hell asked for this?
--------
I've got high hopes for that one, but how many times will we have to watch Rip kick someones ass for making a pass at Beth in a bar.
300 and Dawn of the Dead are the only good contributions Zak Snyder has ever made to film.
Man of Steel was serviceable, only because Cavill is the best Superman since Reeves.
Watchmen is fine.
The rest of his work has been shite.
Watchmen is atrocious in every way...his worst movie, by far. It would probably be anyone's worst movie. It's that bad.

Oh yeah, Dawn of the Dead was pretty good too.
His recent redux of Justice League was also pretty damn good, and I loathe Man of Steel and Batman Vs Superman
Yeah Watchmen was amazing af ; I loved the movie, but the series remains >>> than the movie
Finished my rewatch of The Sopranos and it was awesome! Having not seen it since original release was spectacular. I had forgotten may of the story lines but remembered many extremely clearly. Now after watching Mad Men and Sopranos I think Breaking Bad is next. Yet another A+ series I haven't seen since it aired. Another series with 100% repulsive characters 😀 Bingeing brings a whole new perspective. You undestand the storyline much better than the week to week grind of the past. Tony was whacked pure and simple 😀
After The Sopranos watched the quick and easy 6 episode Titans - The Rise of Hollywood on Netflix which was amazingly good. This is the Lounge which loves movies. You should all watch this asap! Basically the formation of the movie indistry from day one. Very interesting, informative and entertaining.
Has anyone watched Gary? It's a prequel episode to The Bear. Richie and Mikey go on a road trip to Gary, Indiana and mix it up with the locals while we get a further glimpse into the dark side of Mikey and the ways the people around him tried to love him and accommodate his demons. It's a terrific episode and I'd love to see more. I believe the episode takes place before the Fishes episode from Season 2.
Widow's Bay is outstanding. It's 4 episodes in, a horror/thriller/comedy, more emphasis on comedy. The character work is incredible. It's a small community on the east coast (Mass?) only accessible by boat with a lot of tall fishermen tales about bad things happening on the island. The mayor is trying to grow the community by bringing in tourists, hyping it up with local press, but bad/creepy stuff keeps happening. There's a new episode every Wednesday and I'm HYPED to catch a new one every week.
Just watched the final episode of The Boys. Ugh! This really started out as a fun watch the first season or two but turned into I don't know what? I kept watching it for one reason only. Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) is a top ten of all-time entertaining TV characters. He simply carried every episode and the entire show. But that was the only allure after season 2. And what happened to the blonde chick (Starlighter)? Was she in an accident or something? She was a cutie and then her face was busted? It's like she had some sort of bad reconstructive surgury.
It was also disappointing to see one of my favorite of all-time TV characters (Lucas Hood of Banshee) turn into one of my least favorite of all-time TV characters (Homelander).

Super noticeable back to Season 2. She claims Graves disease and sudden weight loss. Internet claims bad surgery. She looked like her Season 1 self in some scenes in the Finale so ??
Finale was fine. Decent wrap up. Left room for sequel.
Social media + mental health + buccal fat removal - ****ing nightmare
Look up (or really don't) Kelly and Sharon Osbourne
Watched a bit of the Mary Tyler Moore show. Lovely, charming, funny. It is a true situation comedy, in that the show is driven by great characters and actors in amusing spots, as opposed to something like say, Archer which is a string of brilliant jokes. It's a little bit of a trip to see a color TV show made in my lifetime which has a cast of actors who are essentially all dead. Once saw an interview with Asner where they asked him if he was in love with MTM and he was like, yeah, who isn't?
Watched a bit of some spin offs, particularly Lou Grant. Objectively it is not the highest quality entertainment, but I like it and I find the cultural changes and so forth fascinating, especially as it is set in the LA area, where I mostly grew up.
Anyway, it is interesting how Lou Grant is a character who changes genres. Granted, (yuk yuk), the Mary Tyler Moore show is semi-serious and not a joke fest, and the Lou Grant show is a drama with a comedic element. Still, I wonder how many characters have hopped genres like that.
^^^^^^^^
Saturday night on CBS was MTM, All in the Family, Mash, and The Bob Newhart Show. In college, we would watch all four before heading out drinking.

I'm younger than you, so I stayed home and watched the Carol Burnett show
I was quite disappointed in the finale of The Boys, it ended with more of a whimper than a bang, alas.
Also binge watched Man on Fire, which I found surprisingly enjoyable.
Currently two episodes in of The Corner, which is okay so far.
Legends - based on a true story of undercover customs agents stopping a large shipment of drugs coming into Britain. Enjoyed it a lot.
Only Murders in the Building S02 - Good, mainly because of Martin Short and Steve Martin. Found myself getting distracted by other stuff towards the end though. Will still give S03 a shot.

I'm on the lasted season of OMitB and it's been slower and tough. Enjoyed the others but think downhill every season.
Netflix recently released a bunch historical 2 and 3 part documentaries and I have really been enjoying them. If you want a refresher course on US history they are well worth watching. So far I watched all the presidential ones. Washington, Lincoln, Grant, Teddy Roosevelt and FDR. I liked the Grant one the best but they were all great. Then I watched the one about the Vice industries which was facsinating as well. Just started the one about the mafia and The Five families and it too is captivating. Highly recommend these!
I finally watched Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light. It's classy, first rate production. Fantastic acting. But a little precious for me, with all the weepy regret over his dead mentor Wolsey. If I had the time and energy, I'd run straight to the source and read Hilary Mantel's books, then read up on real historians' take on Cromwell. But here in what's left of the real world, I'll just wait for the next PBS show. As long as it's not Ken Burns, that is!
I never realised they released the sequel. Thankyou, will definitely have to check that out!
oh nice, been waiting to watch wolf hall for some time
Clarkson's Farm on Amazon. You might know Clarkson from Top Gear. The show is full of delightful characters, and Clarkson is great. I wouldn't quite call it a documentary, but it' not fiction. It shows how farming can be full of frustrations.

Finished Season 2 of Patience, the PBS version of Astrid.
Patience is good but Astrid is even better although both are mostly the same.
An autistic woman who works in the police records basement has remarkable concentration, memory, and the ability to solve puzzles. She soon becomes a consultant to the police, helping to solve crimes.
Nice shows about how autistic people can and need contact with others despite their difficulties, too.

I'm autistic. I wanting to like Patience but I didn't quite get there.
My favorite tv depiction of autistic detective work would probably be the blonde lady on the original Scandi version of The Bridge.
