What book by which Boyd?

Dutch Boyd, Poker Tilt.

Dutch Boyd, Poker Tilt.

Oh, her specifically, not her type. Not sure I will bother reading the book. I ran into her on an elevator at a tournament years ago, and thought she was extremely attractive.

She was there for her looks, with no poker expertise. Probably fooled around to get the job and maybe was looking for winning players, rich amateurs, and amateurs with big scores in tournaments to spend money on her. That was just the impression I had without knowing anything about her, and don't have anything to back that up.

I do wonder what the unedited version of that unintelligible post was.

For his accents*

Lol@ the white knights.

lmao

Yea you got me she's clearly not a gold digger. She loves him his accents.

You have to be horrible with women to not see her for what she is.

the fact that you are jealous/hating of Daniel shows something is ... off at best.

Somewhere back in this very thread the book excerpts/screenshots are posted.

I don't hate him. I've literally said anyone grinding poker would happily trade that for millions of dollars a year in endorsements. He's crushing life in that regard.
I think overall he's been a good ambassador for poker but the cry baby **** when he loses 3 flips in a row after absolutely sun running poker/life is absurd.

It's hilarious that these days people use the term "hating" for stating facts.

I don't know why ya'll need to bag on Amanda. She actually seems nice and they actually seem happy and a good match. There are things to nit pick on Daniel about but she isn't really one of them.

Regarding his poker. He's stood the test of time. There really isn't much you can say about him sucking anymore. Also you can't keep bringing up his stats and then suddenly refer to variance, small fields, etc. when he binks something and is suddenly up for the series. The guy has been killing it in the PGT's too now for several years.

I hate his performative masculinity and his stupid opinions and his stupid hair but well done on bracelet 8. I have zero bracelets and will shut the heck up now.

Kind of spectacular accomplishment to win two bracelets in such tough events. I agree he is playing every high roller trying to hit something. If he won a bracelet in a $1500, they would say he could beat amateurs, but not tough competition.

There are different skills for tournaments, such as playing shallow, playing with an ante, and taking advantage of players playing tight or cautious. He might be much better at tournaments than cash.

He also gets criticized here for quickly busting out with a big stack. He has the funds to be not so worried about pay jump and to play more for a win or top place finish.

Without sponsorships I think Daniel fades away like most of the guys we first saw high stakes poker with those cool 100k bricks of cash. He was making around 4 mil a year with poker stars for 12 years

Without sponsorships, he would probably be playing way more tournaments a year, and maybe not NLHE high rollers. He might be playing better, as he would be playing more.

Without sponsorships, he wouldn't be as well known now. Now he is way more well known than Ivey, who is a significantly better player.

According to all knowing AI, his buyins to high buyin events are paid for and he gets bonuses for top finishes. That may explain some of his game selection.

In contrast to the consensus ITT, AI thinks "Negreanu consistently posts a massive net profit on the tournament felt."

AI Overview
Daniel Negreanu’s exact salary as a global ambassador for GGPoker is strictly confidential, but industry estimates and historical ambassador contracts suggest he makes well into the low-to-mid seven figures annually.

His compensation is heavily performance and promotion-based rather than just a flat salary. His deal with GGPoker is known to include:

Base Retainer: A massive guaranteed yearly base pay, widely estimated by poker media to exceed his previous record-breaking contract with PokerStars.

Tournament Buy-ins: Expensed tournament buy-ins for high-stakes online and live events.

Branded Promotions: Revenue share or special bonuses tied directly to specific promotions, such as his signature "Daniel. Challenge" series and masterclasses.

Media Incentives: Bonuses for appearing at televised final tables and vlogging about the brand.

Aside from his ambassador earnings, Negreanu consistently posts a massive net profit on the tournament felt, famously taking down titles like the prestigious $50,000 Poker Players Championship and $100,000 High Roller at the World Series of Poker.

Thanks for the AI slop. Of course he’s privileged in the poker world as an ambassador he hasn’t been a grinder for a long time. Id rather be a losing player that’s an ambassador than a winning non ambassador. If you play every wsop event, every year, you’re gonna bink one every now and then.

you write monologues trashing him, of course you're a hater. we're not stupid

by TwoBalconies

It’s great then that he’s a winning player who is also an ambassador.

The lady does indeed doth protest too much me thinks

by TwoBalconies

Without sponsorships he would still be better off then 99 percent of us are. He probably wouldnt be playing 100Ks, and 250Ks. He would be playing more often and maybe still living in his old house instead of the new one, but he would still have a plenty good life.

by timber63401

Can you imagine going to bat for someone who ran at a 99%+ distribution of all all poke her players? Like why? Do you work for gg?

by amplify

Just as an aside, his fake hair looks atrocious. You can see where like each individual follicle is

Without sponsorship, he would probably have much better stats. He would be playing a lot more tournaments and would be playing the events he thought were most profitable, not the ones GG wanted him to play. He has a big net loss in $100K+s since his cash for $8M in the $1M in 2014. He also has a huge net profit from tournament play going back to around 2000, so he would have millions without sponsorship, unless he blew them on something like Ivey did.

People ITT thread and elsewhere are picking on him. You can also libel someone on an anonymous forum, and when he has way more money than you. Totally ridiculous that he was just lucky and ran good for 30 years. There are lot of wealthy people. Posters here and elsewhere seem so jealous that he has millions and celebrity status.

Since the $100K win, we see less comments that he is a losing player with sponsorship. Also, no remarks about PLO being his jam.

Can you imagine being ignorant enough to thinks hes ran that high of distribution in his life? He lost out on millions of equity at the WSOP 2021-2024ish? (the smashing the phone into the wall years) getting it in good time after time and losing. You must of never watched the early years of High Stakes Poker either cause his distribution was pretty trash for a lot of the at too. I go to bat for the truth, the people on here acting like he couldn't beat your local 2/5 game is ridiculous, so is the people on here that thinks hes S-tier. As usual it falls somewhere in the middle.

You need to look at long term results and not try to figure out whether someone is running good or bad.

I never implied he is S-tier and haven't seen anyone in this thread imply that. It is hard to compare him, because mostly only other old school players like Ivey and Arieh play NLHE, PLO, and mixed game tournaments. I would put him at a comparable level to those two as a tournament player, but Ivey probably does really well playing cash. He isn't as good as the best tournament players in either NLHE or mixed, but they mostly specialize in one of the other.

I defend him, because people are defaming him with BS. I don't particularly like him or think he is a superstar.

by timber63401

Wow! guy who gets paid millions to play poker, not win, just play poker lost out on millions cause of covid? Absolutely tragic mate. Is there a go fund me we can donate to? We should come together as a poker community and help the GG shill make up for the lost years. Negreanus not beating 200 rush an cash on gg. To be fair 99% of nl players aren’t either
