MuckPls and everyone else vs Vegas (10/4 to 10/20)
Figured I’d start the TR as I have some time on my hand before my trip. Where to start…
Haven’t really played any poker a
Oh, I know nothing about the app.
Same or worse offers in the app. Barely any TC as I was mostly playing blackjack and you earn very little with that.
The guys that grant comps probably don't know the pit boss that rated your action. All they have to go by are the tier credits.
One of the few good things about vp or any slot, is they know every flippin' cent you ran through the machine.
Looking forward to this trip report - thanks in advance for sharing!
Question, do you know if Paul, who is some sort of manager on the floor, Irish dude, at Dragonara, still works there?
I saw that your chips was from Dragonara...
I am thinking of going back to Malta in the end of October and that guy gave me a massive hangover - twice, so I would like to revisit if he still works at Dragonara.
I just spoke to Paul, he’s working as supervisor at Dragonara still so chances are pretty high that you’ll meet him! Hit me up when you are here, I might join!

It’s all digital, you give the pit boss your card when you change cash to chips and they swipe it. Then they update your average bet while you play. Before you leave you always have to ask if they rated you correctly as sometimes they forget when you increase your bets.

Right, there's still some subjectivity in there. It sounds like you didn't put in big hours? Or they just didn't give you a lot of tier credits at your bet level?

I did put in big hours and made sure I was tracked correctly. Status or points have nothing to do with comps as you barely earn any points playing table games. As an example I’m currently Pearl at MGM and get 4 nights free everywhere with $350 free play and $350 food comps while someone who earned platinum through restaurants or whatever might have no offers at all.
Pics and PLO hands, please 😉 Plus food and everything else you can provide!

Yeah, but I would think table games would get you the best tier credits. Apparently not, and I almost never play table games, and no blackjack in a decade, so what do I know?

It is based on the theo hold of the game. Casinos might tell you that all the games have the same ratio vs. theo hold. But it is unlikely they do. For tables, the casino is not tracking your actual every bet amount and probably are not counting your actual exact number of hands.
If the pit boss is low on bet sizes or the table is playing more hands per hour, the players actual theo loss will be higher than player gets credit for. And the house is encouraged to skew things this direction.
The easiest way to see this is compare slots to VP. If we assume the slot hold is 10% on average. And the $ played vs. point awarded is 5:1. (Ballpark for many casinos). Then compare to VP with a typical hold of about 5%, the $ played will be more like 10:1. Both would have a theo cost of about $5 per point.
When speed of play is also included, slots are the FASTEST way to earn points. These points will work to increase your tier level but your theoretical loss increase your comps and free play much quicker. Frequent average sessions over a year will get you to the higher tiers but fewer, heavy sessions will get you better FP and comps, though it may or may not get you to the same tier level. Also how often you take advantage of the offers, iow how much $ the casino is actually giving you, impacts the size of the offers.
In MuckPls situation, being international plus "wasting" (in the opinion of the casino) time playing poker, he just doesn't have the hours to reach the highest tiers. My wife has similar level of offers from MGM but is a Platinum level tier. But she probably has a lower theo since it is per visit. Her capture ration (what % of offers used) is also higher. Net even though she probably loses more $ and has a higher tier, her free play is only comparable to slightly less.

Pretty much spot on, thank you! My MGM offers are still great but I doubt my Cesars will ever go up. Oh well!

Well your CET will never go up if you intend to boycott them.
Long story already shared elsewhere, but the local CET casino, dropped all my awards because early this year I was not able to play there (and I am 7Stars). I still get offers, comps, celebration dinners, air fare and free play. Just not at my local casino.
They have gotten very little play from me. But have done enough trips to other CET props that I am Diamond Elite for next year. With a couple of LV trips, at least one that I think might hit a 5x period, I might still hit 7Star for next year.
What is stupid is my card and app still show the local free play but it can't be downloaded to use. Certainly their perogative to cut me off but some communication would be nice

It’s fine, I won’t even try at this point. I’m perfectly ok with them giving me some discount for the mandatory 72 hours that I use to bridge comps at MGM. Plus in my opinion there are no hotels in the CET chance that are good enough to be bothered, even Ceasars Palace sucks as can be seen from my previous TRs.
Your PLO friend is my hero. I can almost match him in hours 😀 Turns out I get to go back to Vegas in December, so I will do my best!

We discussed this last time and he said that he’s been to Vegas so many times already that he doesn’t really do anything except play poker for 3 months. He basically wakes up, eats breakfast, takes a cab to the strip (he lives in an Airbnb until I arrive) and plays nonstop until either the game breaks or he needs to sleep.
We always discuss doing other things, but unless we can snowboard, we usually just stay at the tables, too 😉 We see a show or have a nice meal occasionally.

For bridge rooms, you should check out poker rates at expensive places like Aria, Wynn, Venetian, etc. They are generally similar in that prices are in the $140-$160 area on weekdays and require 5-6 hours of play. You are good enough to play that amount without concern. However, the Wynn lets you satisfy that play requirement with one tournament, so crappy players like me might survive it.

Way too expensive and also I can’t stay at MGM properties for those days otherwise my comps don’t reset. I managed to book Linq for $152 total for 3 nights, including resort fees and taxes, that will have to do.
Yeah, you got those rooms almost for free considering how much the resort fees are.
Hit me up when vegas , usually grindin
