General TV Discussion and Thread for Shows Without A Thread Thread

OOTV doesnt like family comedies much huh? Raising Hope and The Middle are two of the best(possibly the best outside of NBC)comedies on tv yet no threads.

Just an observation.

Surprised by the IMDB score. Not easy to hit that at volume. Then again I guess Yellowstone did.

It took me until his second or third appearance in The Agency to realize that was the Earl of Grantham.

Some of this show still feels sweaty but it’s decent a decent watch from week to week

Definitely a plus if that one character is actually dead.

I hate lazy writing. Can never understand going through the ordeal to shoot stuff like this and not polish your script more.
Anyways, it's not terrible but SQ is right. A poor man's Yellowstone with a little John wick (being generous).

yeah im not excited at all before watching any of the episodes but ive never been to Utah, so its a cheap voyage.

i will forget the show a week after i get through the last episode.

The Silo is probably best watched as a binge after the season is over. Had I watched it week to week, it would have been head scratching slow. But as a binge it was fine. Google says it is renewed for a season 3 & 4 and season 3 shooting is underway. But there is no way I am watching it week to week.

Continuation of earlier posts, finally finished Mad Men last weekend. Took us about 2 months to hammer through it all.

Of course not on the same tier at Sopranos, Wire, BB. I'd also call it a notch below Deadwood, BCS, GOT, etc. It's a solid B, maybe B+ for me.

About the second half of season 6 and onwards really dropped in quality, once Don went on his massive bender and locked up that neighbours wife (Linda Cardellini) in the hotel room and got all creepy. Actually it may have worsened when he shacked up with Megan. That terrible Zou Bisou Bisou scene will be forever etched into my mind. Also her terrible teeth.

Just never felt like the show was saying anything that mattered. So many throwaway scenes. Don was a great character but an *******. Tried to flesh out his character more through flashbacks to childhood than it did with any present day storytelling. And the "meta" ending felt pretty flat, with all the rushed closeouts to each character's arc.

The show did manage to get me to change my feelings on characters throughout while not really altering the characters themselves. Feel like that is a testament to good writing or something. Joanie I hated at the beginning but liked her by the end, hope she doesn't have long term back problems with those cannons. Roger Sterling GOAT. Pete was miserable. Actually they really had very few major casting changes other than Jared Harris coming in and out. Maybe the show could have used more of a central guest star each season rather than just selling one big company an ad per season.

I liked the first episode of American Primeevil. Maybe I'm a rube, lol.

Congrats to The Agency for raising its game in episodes 7,8,9. If it follows The Bureau properly , S1, final Ep 10 that is coming up will be a whopper. One difference between them is the lead character of Martian is played as a guy who underneath is worried and nervous while in The Bureau the lead seemed to be cool and confident with an iron nerve. Anyway thats the way I remember it from years ago.

I watched the first episode of "The Pitt". An intense version of ER! So far so good.

The trailer looks great. I just got around to watching ER last year and loved it. Never would have given it a chance if I hadn't stumbled upon a rerun while channel surfing.

Early seasons ER and later seasons are night and day different. Later ER is just a hospital soap opera.

I never noticed it until NBC ran season 1 ER episodes during a Christmas break. My jaw dropped watching those early episodes - so good.

Yeah, the show went downhill a season or two after...

Mark Greene died.

But while I had to push to get through some of the later episodes, I still found them mostly entertaining. Grey's Anatomy, on the other hand, was too much, and I checked out on season 2. I've been watching The Resident, and it feels a lot like those later seasons but a little better. Malcolm-Jamal Warner is pretty great in it.

It's rare this ever happens, but I watched the first episode of The Hunting Party and turned it off halfway through. It was literally terrible, from the dialogue right down to the massive plot holes and even the acting was poor. Haven't not gotten through a first episode of a show maybe ever, but it was really that bad.

Through e4 and I'm loving it.

My wife worked in an ER for a small community hospital, so every other scene seems to lead to a story from her experience.

The intensity of this show is off the charts. It's a show that I would have a hard time to binge watch. I need a recovery period after each episode.

Yeah I watched 3 episodes last night very gritty and realistic .

This evening my wife and I started watching "The Substance". My first reaction is that this is a 2 1/2 hour Black mirror episode. The vibes are strong. Pretty good movie.

man .. the agency, e10.
so they waited and waited, and then put all the action into the final episode of season 1.
nicely done.

Second season of The Night Agent out.

I've not actually seen it, just got it confused it with The Night Manager, which was brilliant, and also has a second season coming this year.

ive been watching Evil. It's really fun. It has a buffy/angel early 00s monster of the week feel. First episode isnt that great but after that its easy to get hooked and it really goes deeper than current shows into the lives of the characters.

Also Ghost(us version). First episode i could have given up but after that its a really good feel good comedy. Watch it before taking my night shower and going to bed, ends the day with a smile. Reminds me of when i used to do that with Community.

You seen the UK version Ser?

I just started season 2 of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, written by Douglas Adams. Lots of absurd characters and shenanigans.

no, the people on reddit seemed to say you should choose one or the other. Im guessing the US one hits closer to home for me.
