US Immigration Crisis
I didn’t see an immigration thread so I figured I would add one. This problem seems to be worsening everyday of the current admin. Hopefully some of our new elected officials can help with this. Mr. Luttrell is a great start
Correct. That's how I'd do it if I were in charge.
I'd probably throw in some language about the initial authorization being temporary, and you have to check in after 2 years for a status update. If you're still not an idiot, crazy, criminal, or on the dole, then you get your permanent credentials. If you don't show up or no longer pass the criteria, back to where you came from and you can try again in a decade.

That's what it was when the USA started like exactly. Essentially anyone can come and essentially anyone can just register to be a citizen after 2 years. That was the first naturalization law from 1790.
Great minds think alike then. Let's bring that back.
No your the one being an idiot
your saying because 1 in 100 illegal immigrants knows how to build a house that "some can lower housing" and your using this as a pro immigration argument.
But thats not how you judge if illegal immigrant lower or raise house values. You take 100 illegal immigrants and divide them by 100. you take the average not the one outlier
Just take the L dude your right about alot of other things this is not the hill to die on
Trump says we're the only country in the world that has birthright citizenship when he signs the EO. He is just amazingly ignorant and dumb.
Is he, or is he very adept at manipulating his dolts into doing his bidding?
You think his droolers are going to verify that what he says is actually true? Or are they going to simply run with it cuz that’s what they do? Do the Trumpers here give you the impression they’re thoughtful, discerning people?
Anyone who watched January 6 unfold knows the answer to that question.
Trump is not Hitler. Hitler went to prison and wrote a book, 2 things Trump could never survive doing.
But both men have the ability to get their rubes do irrational, illogical and unspeakable things. Stay. Tuned.
F72,
Man, I feel like writing a full response to that is so likely to be a waste, but I'll try anyway.
"#1 way to lower those costs in more construction to lower the demand and increase the supply "
This is a tautology if you understand that demand means how much people are willing to pay for a property and not how badly people want to live somewhere. A million homeless and penniless people surrounding your neighborhood, yearning to live there with all their hearts does nothing to raise property v
I'm not sure how the real estate market became the focal point with migration itt, I did mention how it could affect it but stated that other factors play the role with that.
I wouldn't argue against the bolded. What I would argue is that there is an incredibly large gap between what Trump and Co wants and advocating against having an open border policy, and that gap encompasses some very pertinent information that often seems to just get completely bulldozed over due to ideological horseshit from both ends - because I could certainly argue that a completely unregulated border could potentially lead to lefties spiting their own faces. I just really ****ing hate how it can be difficult to have these conversations these days when it shouldn't be the case, but I understand for some of the reasons why, i guess .
It would be true that increasing net migration would potentially lead to filling agriculture jobs in Nebraska and labor needs in So Cal and so forth and the world will rejoice. But the subsequent effects, (...which isn't me forcing an argument against immigration...) are there and need to be at least acknowledged and thought through when dealing with important issue like this. Or there isn't a discussion.
Comedy Gold...

For king spew. The summary is juvenile videos that everyone 7th grader would love.
bb.... I did find both videos funny. However, most links and videos need an explanation. A recent video clip was posted. Over an hour. No explanation. Sad.
Moving forward, short summaries are required.
Well, I can code, but I don't particularly like to sweat and/or get dirty. I prefer to leave that to the professionals.
What I can not understand is the Linken Reilly act passed and yet sanctuary cities will not let ice take into custody immigrants they have jailed . The argument they haven't been convicted yet is just stupid by the democrats and its a reason they lost. Over 50% of Americans support deporting all illegal immigrants .
Yet as a CDN if I want to vacation in Las Vegas and I have pending charge for a DEI or felony I get turned away at the border. Why should it be different for an illegal migrant

I was talking about anti-immigrant fly over state yahoos. It's of course a stereotype but not exactly false if you try talking to them. Like people heavily opposed to H1Bs but you ask them to write a O(n log n) time sort and they stare at you blankly not realizing that's why we need a ton of immigrants for basic intro level jobs.
the idea of needing h1b for tech after most companies laid off half their engineers and we now have 119,000 unemployed tech workers right now is wildly out of touch
virtue signaling pie in the sky nonsense at its finest

ecriture never answered when I asked why those entry level desk jobs can't be fully remote from India.

I'll ask for the n-th time.
why not remote? if it's easy, banal, desk jobs which Americans aren't capable of doing, why can't the indians do them from their own indian houses ? google &c have massive amounts of international collaborators like that.
Columbia's President caving in to illegal flights in less than 1 hour after trying to be a badarse is pure comedy gold

Many do work from India. Many are also needed here, depnding on the role. Been the status quo for a while. If you want to change it get rural Trumpers to start paying attention in school and change their culture. Otherwise there is a skills gap between what the native population can do and what companies need. You can't have it both ways where Trumpers complain about these immigrants doing these jobs then embrace a culture that minimizes basic education. Maybe they exist, but I've never met an anti-immigration Trumper as skilled as just a rando IIT grad who could not get an EB1.

the status quo re work from distance changed quite a bit with COVID and after it.
the tools and the company culture now exist to have almost all such jobs fully remote if you want.
and you save a ton paying "high indian (or Pakistani or philipino or Hungarian or japanese and so on) salaries" instead of American ones.
i mean housenuts wasn't lying when he said trump re-election would be great for the lols
