Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
If your side is reduced to throwing sticks at drones, it might be time to give up the hostages, take L, and move along with life.
That was the Patten report and we have discussed it in depth. The superseding report with greater investigative powers explicitly did not corroborate rape.
I've linked to it many times. I don't have time to dig them up now.
You mean it didn’t corroborate a rape campaign or it didn’t corroborate rape whatsoever? Doesn’t a rape campaign (ironically like genocide) require proof of a special kind of intent like directions from leadership?
Also are you saying she lied about seeing photographs/video of sexual violence?
Natediggity, the post of yours that I just deleted is NOT helpful.
Thread, the next poster who makes a low-content, troll, or personal attack post that I have to then delete is going to get a day off.
STOP please.
turns out it wasn't quite the happy accident suggested earlier
they had intel he was somewhere in area but didn't know exactly where, and they'd been running extra patrols in order to try restrict his movements. lets call it a happy semi-accident

just to avoid another 600 posts on this, here is your answer:
if unclear let me know

I guess I'm a tad confused. Vic gave me that exact same advice in the Mod thread and the post remains.

This thread, unfortunately, has to have special rules in order to stay open.
No worries, just check the OP of this thread and you’ll see them all. Also, in general, this isn’t the thread for trolling, meming, or low-content sarcasm.
Thanks, friend 😀
Yes, yes, I know. Oxfam is in Hamas. Hamas controls the media...
I can't imagine how someone could think that Victor is Crossnerd's pet anymore than they would think that Luciom or Boids is.
So Oxfam is ordering the invasion of Israel? I don’t know what exactly they are demanding but I’m not sure why people would want those individuals to stay in place if indeed there is going to be military operations in the region. Wasn’t Israel called genociders for keeping their agreements in place with Egypt to not allow border crossings?
Israel is in a situation where they will be condemned no matter what they do.

You've seen Vic's body of work right?
Luciom is on some kind of ban and Boids gets scolded left and right.
But Vic, the pet, is immune.
Draw your own conclusion, I don't care. But CN as a mod when those 3 are involved produces predictable results. And I'm prepared to hear how "exhausting" it is.
If you have complaints about the moderation, take it the moderation thread please. This isn’t the place for it.
Sinwar is at least deserving of some props for staying and fighting to w/e degree in Gaza in his 60s for what he believed was right.
Unfortunately, the most charitable take of Sinwar and Hamas which is the preserving of future lives is almost certainly just an awful strategy or just full of **** as we likely enter a stage where Israel could theoretically both settle Gaza for generations and, at a minimum, kills hundreds of thousands of neighboring Arabs who didn't play a role in any of this while weakening any ability to fight in their defense - and both kill yourself and the leader and back up to Hez in short order.
WE GOT HIM BOISSS WOOOOO
Here’s a discussion about what will happen next now that Sinwar has been eliminated. It seems both analysts agree that the war is not over right now, with the pro-Israel analyst arguing that it won’t be over until the hostages are returned and the other analyst who feels very strongly the war should end not offering a very clear path to ending the war but instead arguing the US should put pressure on Israel to put an end to the war.
The key here is who will emerge as the leader of the fighters on the ground if any. Even if someone in exile can gain leadership of Hamas, that doesn’t mean that the people on the ground will actually listen to them even if they strike a deal.
“To the Hamas terrorists I say: your leaders are fleeing and they will be eliminated,” he continues.
He says that anyone holding hostages will be allowed to live if they lay down their weapons and release their captives.

This is what is currently on the table as far as those holding the hostages. I’m not sure this assurance will be enough to actually get anyone to give up hostages, but maybe. I don’t see in practice how that would actually work since I imagine whoever does release the hostages has to be worried about IDF soldiers lacking discipline, which has been an issue that has cropped up quite a few times throughout the war.
These next few days will probably be very telling in terms of what the appetite is to continue the fighting in Gaza. Is the “insurrection” a lasting thing or will it sputter out without a strong leader.
This is your take?
Dude I have to go to synagogue under armed guard just to pray. Come on now.
yes it is my take , as people like you claim victim while the actual people getting killed right now is not Jews around the world because of antisemitism but Palestinians civilians by the IDF

At this point Hamas has devolved into a decentralized gang whose primary objectives are stealing aid and selling them on the black market, both as a means of control and for income. Gaza is basically Haiti, except the gangs are a lot better armed, and tremendously more aid is provided because the world cares about Palestinians (mainly because the world is antisemitic) and doesn't care about Haitians.
I see no reason for the current dynamics to change much with Sinwar gone, unless a (non Hamas or other Jihadi group) central authority takes over, that has the power and will to overcome the gangs and bring order.
