Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
just to give some (of many) examples of what separates us from most of the world in regards to our commitment to our country:
1. on October 8th, two of my unit charted a private plain and flew themselves and 10 more Israeli reserve soldiers to fight. they live in London and own a business that is worth over a billion dollars. they are worth hundreds of millions each. both fought in Gaza as combat soldiers.
2. Still on October 8th, 4,000 people over the age of reserve duty came to my regiments grouping meeting (which is a specific place only for us and and not the entire army), asking to re enlist. some of them were over the age of 70.
3. A week ago, our unit was ordered to take a 3 months off, as we were in duty from October 8th. we took a poll - how many want this. 98% voted to stay in duty.
4. The sons of our leaders (not including Yair Netanyahu ofc) are all in active combat duty roles. Gadi Eisenkot's son was killed in Gaza. most of Hamas leaders kids are in Qatar living it up like millionaires.
that is the difference.
I liked the part where at his funeral they bragged about killing women and children
I think your analysis is right and Israel has barely had any losses, civilian or military since Oct 7th, Hamas and Hezbollah have had huge losses as well as the civilian populations of Gaza and Lebanon, and Israel has an extremely powerful, disciplined, motivated, and well supplied military and no one in the region poses a serious threat to them.
Congrats!
I did not count civilians death toll, which is much higher.
and I'm definitely not going to apiologies for having a stronger army, that wins wars we did not start.
and we should not stop this war until we make sure that our borders are safe and the threat is no longer. with all do respect, we are not going to let another October 7th happen.
Victor doesn’t want you to know that many of the stories he has been putting out there may have been sourced directly from Hamas operatives moonlighting as journalists. Or is it journalists moonlighting as Hamas operatives?
shocker
why are you shifting the goal post every time you are proven to be lying.
you did this just a few days ago on the Hezbollah discussion, now on the out come of the war so far (and many other times).
just to be clear - was he probably a complete azzhole? yes.
there are 9 million Israelis, I can agree upfront that many of them are so.
again Victor, what are we debating and what does my post has to do with your rebuttal.
I'm feeling im being a part of the worst low level dialogue in history of the Internet.

You're going to make another October 7th happen. Maybe not next year, but some time for sure. You're making Israel less safe in the long run. That's not to say that there was no response that would have been better than doing nothing, but what Israel has actually done and is continuing to do is something Israelis will be paying for for generations.
and lots of them are committing suicide which is something thats been kind of whispered about for like 6 months. turns out that doing plausible genocide is not good for the brain.
incidentally, google tells me that over 30k Iraq/Afghanistan vets have killed themselves.
Again - what is many?
the number is 12 so far.
it is on par with average suicide rates in the army every year (13 a year).
god dammit Victor, are you a one man fake news machine
No response from victor. Just drop a false narrative, get corrected, and move on.
Btw the 30k statistic is over a period of 20 years. Over that timeframe they had about a 40% increased risk of suicide. And I’m pretty sure that if we just look at wars in general, whether justified or unjustified, the survivors likely have higher rates of suicide. This whole idea that the increased rate of suicide can be used as an argument they are committing war crimes is sooooo dumb.
Holocaust survivors have higher rates of attempted suicide therefore… what exactly? I’m sure if we just parse this out a little bit we would realize being around extreme acts of violence in general is bad for your mental health.

what is there to say to him? I believe my sources and intuition more than him. theres a reason that CNN is doing humanization pieces on the guys who ran over 100s of Palestinians in bulldozers, many still alive, and one of them killed themselves.

It’s par for the course in this thread. Confirmation bias is playing a huge factor in the level of discourse. I’m not even sure they read our posts, just pick a couple of words and then regurgitate a talking point or post another salacious story. It’s like talking to far right conservatives.

what sources? what are the "real" numbers? if im wrong, correct me.
come on man, any neutral third party would have had you on ignore for being such a bad actor.
and before you deleted, you claimed the pictures you posted show Israeli's soldiers holding doctors and nurses, and that even the Nazi's did not act like that.
problem is, we only see man in those pictures, so again you are misrepresenting the truth.
secondly, do you realize the Nazi's did deliberately murder women and children, including doctors and any jew from any profession?
get back to reality man

yes I deleted the tweet due ot the problematic language. it was up for like 30s. I saw the tweet earlier today from a less inflammatory source and did not bookmark it. I simply put Kamal Adwan in the twitter search and that was the first one that came up and I linked it without reading the text bc Ramy is usually pretty professional.
I then deleted it to find a more suitable source bc a lot of these big aggregator accounts that come up on the top of twitter search are antisemitic or manisphere types and I dont like to link to those people and did not find one right away so I just copied some pictures.
I am held to a higher standard than anyone else here and I dont owe people like you or blue anything as you guys never post sources and always assume the worst.

the fact is that Hezbollah had built infrastructures to create a much worst October 7th, and that we have already destroyed most of them. so on that front, i strongly disagree with your sentiment.
On the Gaza front, i some what agree, i.e. the war was a necessity, but we should have already moved to the third stage of re building Gaza and helping to put a system of government. problem is, without the hostages back, that will not pass in the Israeli society, and for good reason
rather than whining about the rhetoric of a person who has watched his entire society and much of his family and friend destroyed, you could comment on why its at all ok to kidnap a bunch of doctors and torture them.

you have just described a backwards world. every time you asked me for a source, i provided one. none of my factual claims have been refuted so far. you on the other hand...
you could also comment on why you think its so great that so many of your fellow soldiers are so motivated for this stuff. since you seem to have spent time in Gaza if I am interpreting your posts correctly maybe you could answer Ryan's question.

those are not doctors. those are arrest made in Jabaliya. look at the pictures, most of them are in their 20's.
do you really think the world is that stupid?

dont believe your lying eyes
this are pictures posted by the IDF.
the IDF spokesman explained the pictures and the who was arrested.
right but the IDF is not credible. Im old enough to remember the Al Shifa command center hoax. and many others that have been argued to death in this thread.
I listened to the entire thing. Has nothing to do with your claims of doctors arrest.
VVVVVIIIICCCCCTTTTTOOOORRRR come on man. really. come one
