Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
The Druze love living in Israel
The Druze men are required to serve in the idf
So that means Victor thinks they are idf for life so I doubt he cares about them enough to say they deserve self determination

Maybe you missed my post earlier where I told you that Wikipedia is anti. Israel, so of course they will lie

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/druze...

There are about 150,000 members of the Druze community in Israel, according to the latest figures from the country's Central Bureau of Statistics.

Around 25,000 live in the Golan Heights — a rocky plateau overlooking the upper Jordan River valley on the west — which was seized by Israel from Syria during the Six-Day War in 1967 before it was formally annexed in 1981. Israel subsequently offered them citizenship.

Syria has for decades demanded the return of the area, which sits around 40 miles southwest of the country’s capital, Damascus, and is still seen as occupied territory under international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.

After the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011, a growing number of Druze in the Golan Heights have sought Israeli citizenship and roughly 25% of the community now hold it, according to Rami Zeedan, an associate professor of Israel studies at the University of Kansas, who is Druze himself.

Zeedan, who is also editor of the Druze Studies Journal, said that some are “becoming more connected to Israeli society,” while others remain firmly rooted in their identities as Syrians.Unlike members of Israel's Arab community, most of whom are Muslim or Christian, Israeli Druze are not exempt from military conscription and a large number serve with the Israel Defense Forces. Druze who do not hold Israeli citizenship are not subject to mandatory service.

At least 10 Druze officers and soldiers have been killed since Oct. 7, according Israel’s Haaretz newspaper, which reported that eight died in combat in Gaza and two others were killed in the north of the country, where cross-border attacks between Israel and Hezbollah have occurred almost daily since the war in the Gaza Strip began in October.

Maybe you didn't realize the Druze live throughout Israel, as do Jews Muslims and Christians, not just in the Golan Heights?

I always find it interesting

You don't know much about how Jordan occupied and annexed the west bank
You don't know much about the 2+million arab citizens of Israel that are a productive part of society
You don't know much about how people off all religions and backgrounds exist together in the only democratic state in the Middle East

You only "know a lot about" what fits your false Israel bad zionist occupying state agenda

every single day Israel proves that armed resistance is the only option. you cant beg the Western Empire to grant even the slightest shred of humanity. they will kill you for even asking.

Listen man, you go posting Hamas propaganda on social media from a literal Hamas command center what do you expect to happen?

Maybe they can try giving up the hostages?

by whackmaster k

What? Do you mean that Hamas would tunnel into Israel, and that the IDF would be incapable of preventing an Oct 7 attack? If so, lol.

I tried to answer this. But my brain hurts too much.

by whackmaster k

Yes, it was a terrible idea for Hamas to do the Oct 7 attack, Israel flattening Gaza in response is not surprising. That does not mean it is morally justifiable. Anyone participating in or enabling the genocide of the Palestinians is evil.

I am glad you think Oct 7 was a "terrible idea". But you have removed it from the context of the intent of Hamas.

The specific goal of Hamas, and Iran, is not just the genocide of Israel, but its complete elimination. Given the ongoing existential threat Hamas and Iran represent to Israel there is absolutely moral justification for the destruction of Hamas.

This is war. Until the losing side surrenders, which has not yet happened, there is no reason to stop executing the war. Bye-bye Hamas.

How many civilian deaths are morally justified here? 50k? 200k? All 2M or so?

its more like, until Hamas surrenders and Palestinians live as slaves, then we will continue burying entire families alive, burning entire families alive, sniping children, drone striking doctors.

Isreal LOVES killing doctors. Maybe even more than they enjoy killing children! Every day, some new doctor, working under the worst conditions possible in a desperate attempt to save lives, showing great bravery and compassion... gets ****ing domed by some IDF pig. It's almost enough to drive one insane.

Israel loves killing doctors even slightly more than metsandfinsfan loves spewing post after post of grade-school apologetics and proclaiming moral victory all while ignoring the content of the responses to him.

Wikipedia finally suspending editors with huge anti Israel bias

Take THAT, Wikipedians! Selectively edited propaganda is OUR job!

Karl, take a timeout. You need to chill.

not quantifiable

part of the surrender terms needs to be security and a better life for palestenians. A coalition of neighboring Arab nations can oversee it

victor

if hamas surrenders and the terms are to end the blockade of gaza, form a new govt, and saudi, jordan, and egypt (and possibly qatar) can ensure the stability for several years so that israel can be forced to leave ... would that be okay?

or should hamas hold out until the west bank issue is resolved?

or should hamas hold out until the "illegal state" is no more?

i think even you realize that israel is not stopping with hamas in power. Especially with trump as president

so if you were hamas, and actually cared about your people, what would you do?

by Trolly McTrollson k

There is no moral limit to what Israel is morally allowed to do to guarantee it's safety, with regards to non-western-allied countries.

That's what being an ally means: we internalize the value of the human lives of citizens your country as something morally positive to preserve. If you aren't our ally we don't, simple as that.

so if you were hamas,

its quite clear that Israel plans to murder and enslave them all and no external force is going to stop them. so if I was Hamas I would take out as many of their murderous soldiers that run over hundreds of people with tanks, snipe children, and drone strike doctors as possible before dying with dignity.

so you would like the war to go on so that the gazan people will never have a good life?

thank you for your answer

that sounds like an excuse to conduct endless war against the state of israel tbh

its not Hamas that is making the war go on. its the genocidal expansionist Western extension Israeli colony. Hamas arent going to be able stop the liquidation by making deals with the very people who want to kill them all.
