When it comes to slots I am clueless and a novice. Is there any rule of thumb for the optimal way (low variance, I assume, is best) to convert my slotplay at MGM properties into cash? I had a credit card offer that netted me $2000 slotplay, and I would like to max this out, even if it means 1 line at $1. I understand that this is not necessarily $2000 in cash, but what range should I expect to get from playing this through (1x) in the lowest variance way?
(Praying for something more than about tree fiddy)
Do I look for the payout percentage and then just mindlessly slam the lowest denomination, the fewest lines? Could be a job for wife if so.
Thanks for any sage advice!
DDB $1 video poker is your safest bet. Could go for TDB which is more volatile but higher payout, so depends on what you want to achieve. Expect around 50-60% unless you hit a jackpot.
Whenever I get slot plays I play 8/6 or 9/6 Jack's or better video poker. Usually get 90% back.
Any juicy tournaments worth playing this weekend, or should I stick with cash games?
I remember during the WSOP somebody here made a website with a rating for each tournament's structure. Is there something like that for the tournaments running now?
Once all the summer schedules drop, Kenny Hallaert made a public Google doc of all the scheduled tournaments for the summer.
I forget, but someone else went through the structure sheets and assigned something called an S score for them.
Keep an eye on NVG, it’ll probably show up there.

Ended up playing that big 50k guarantee at the Orleans. It's kind of a dump eh.
Free van friendly parking right at the casino tho.
Got knocked out by a lady that said she only joined because here she'll lose her money slower than at video poker lol
that's the Orleans for you

As what makes a good structure is massively subjective depending upon how much of a nit you are, such a list would be worthless

Are you saying some pros would prefer a structure with smaller starting stacks and faster levels?
Being a cash games player I prefer the opposite since I've never studied short stack play.

You're discussing low buyin tournaments, I don't think "pros" are going to be playing them regardless of the structure.
what's the parking situation for Wynn and Venetian? last time I was here it was free to park
They both charge now. I’m a member at Las Cegas advisor and it says 1 hr free at Palazzo/V, 3hrs at the Wynn. I had thought Wynn/Encore poker validated parking but it doesn’t specify on LVA. Just saw chilrob’s post so yeah validated for poker players.
Free strip parking,
Casino Royale
Circus Circus
Tropicana
Treasure Island
Sahara
Resorts World is free with even there basic players club card.
Lol even the Strat now charges for parking.
on Bravo app, Wynn and Venetian say the poker room will validate your parking with 3 hours play or a tournament entry, and Wynn did for me
How often do the comp dollars get updated? Looking online I'm still at $0 at Wynn and MGM even though I played a few sessions at both.

Poker sessions?
At MGM rooms the comp dollars should be available as soon as you clock out at the table, but they are completely separate from anything you earn with play elsewhere in the casino. Unless things have changed recently, what you can see online is only the latter - what you have earned from casino play. AFAIK there is no way to check how many poker comp dollars you have other than asking someone in the poker room to check for you.
I'm not all that familiar with the Wynn system, but I imagine it is very similar - when you look online you are seeing casino comps, not poker comps.

Cool, thanks. Strange that they don't have this information available online.
Anyone have thoughts on good jobs that maybe have more part time type attributes that also come with some benefits in vegas? Any jobs you can work 3-4 days a week (maybe 30-40hrs) that would allow to play poker more but also have a job gig with some guaranteed income?
My only thoughts would Uber/Lyft driver , Amazon flex, other amazon type delivery jobs. These also don’t come with benefits (flex and Uber/Lyft). I’m just considering making a move down the road and want a gig prior to making a move to just playing poker bc honestly don’t know if i could make income just from cash games per se (gotta be honest with myself here- I’m more of a tourny player).
I have a solid gig in northeast USA with great pay + benefits. The problem is the transition yo this type of role in vegas would be very hard bc I work for a utility company in a union role. I continually look for openings at vegas utility but never see jobs that match up with my profile + I feel these union type jobs are hard to get into if you aren’t in said companies union. Honestly, I would probably be willing to take a $30-50k paycut to live in vegas with no income tax, nice weather, more entertainment options, and great poker mtt schedule in comparison to
Northeast where I typically have to drive 5 hrs or take flights for mtt trips.
Any thoughts here would be appreciated. My current gig has insane pay/ benefits so leaving is not ideal. I find it rough bc I get 4 weeks of vacation a year and just find it hard to get live mtt volume I want. Even if I lived in vegas and had similar gig- it would be much easier to pump up volume a bit playing dailies at Wynn on weekends or weeknights once in a while: aka I would like this a lot.

if your current gig has insane pay/benefits, moving to Vegas to get a part time job so you can play more MTTs sounds like a terrible idea.

Stick it out where you are at until you have a pension/401K/medical you can live off of. Then retire to Vegas and play all you want.
