Trump 2nd term prediction thread
So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.
Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.
A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.
Funny that the people's champion, Donald Trump, doesn't say a thing about the hardship of losing your job, and has nothing to say conciliatory about the mass firings. It's almost like he doesn't care. It's almost like he couldn't care less. It's almost like the people are pawns and objects of disdain to him and his crony oligarchs. Like they mean nothing and there is almost a glee at having such power over them. Hmm.

I fix it for you .
I mean, it is a lot to ask for a head of state in a democracy to have a modicum of care for its citizens. A president has to make tough choices, so you obviously want someone who is mostly concerned about himself mulling the alternatives.
It is best to think of this in MAGA / Trumpist terms: How you can best prostrate yourself and agree with everything Trump does? In doing so, you might not catch his ire.
Best keep watch though, he likes to contradict himself. So agreeing with what he did / said yesterday isn't good enough.
Court lifts block on Trump order to end federal support for DEI programs
Panel halts block on day-one executive order directing government agencies to end diversity grants and contracts

An appeals court on Friday lifted a block on executive orders seeking to end government support for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs, handing the Trump administration a win after a string of setbacks from dozens of lawsuits.
The decision from a three-judge panel allows the orders to be enforced as a lawsuit challenging them plays out. The appeals court judges halted a nationwide injunction from US district judge Adam Abelson in Baltimore.

It would be one thing if he was a jerk but had FDR or Eisenhower level competence when it came to running the federal government; you could say fine we just have to deal with the crappy bedside manner and soft skills because he's elite at the crucial aspects. But he's an affirmative action educated incompetent who sucks at running the federal government as well.
I would love to see the results of a challenge for a trump fan to find one clip of at least a minute in length of donald trump speaking intelligently about any policy. Just one where he sounds like he actually knows what he's talking about and sounds informed on the subject.
I've literally never seen one.

Question. Now the SC have put Trump above the law, if he ordered people to do law breaking activities that are covered by this immunity, are they also above the law?
follow up. Does this immunity extend to ignoring court rulings? By extension, does he become no longer beholden to the legal arm? And likewise, any department being directly run by the executive can also ignore court rulings?
😀

Treasury Department and IRS officials are predicting a decrease of more than 10 percent in tax receipts by the April 15 deadline compared with 2024, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share nonpublic data. That would amount to more than $500 billion in lost federal revenue
lol shocker, you gut your tax collecting system and the capacity to check returns, and tax revenue drops.

When you post something like this without context we aren't sure if you think allowing tax payers to keep an extra 500B that they earned is a good thing or if you would have preferred to take more from those who earned it to give to those who didn't.

What does it matter ?
You try to politicize it in some way to absolve trump?
I predict there will be a fair and transparent process to determine whose taxes won't be collected, and that this will benefit the average American taxpayer.

Yeah, I wish we got either biden or kamala so we'd have a president that can explain policy to us.
In all seriousness, considering the 3 people who just ran for president it is fairly obvious that neither party thinks clearly communicating a message to voters is all that important.
