a lot of people couldn't sleep at night because of Biden unconstitutional attempt to force the vaccine to every employee of every company that had more than 100 employees. they couldn't sleep because choosing between feeding their family and acting according to their conscience for them was disastrous.
others couldn't sleep because too many illegals were roaming around doing crime in their neighborhood thanks to Biden.
others couldn't sleep because of the highest inflation rate in 40 years caused by democrats passing insane COVID relief bills even when a vaccine was available and states were reopening.
some couldn't sleep thinking of Taliban Islamic terrorists getting their hands on 7 billions of military gear left there disastrously after the botched removal of American troops from Afghanistan.
many couldn't sleep because they were getting censored by social media under the explicit pressure and threat of Biden FBI.
many couldn't sleep because thinking of thousands of minors being mutilated using taxpayers money or insured people money wasn't appropriate or moral.
many couldn't sleep because their kids in college were at risk of being expelled just because they had a quarrel with a girl
there's a lot of pro tariff stuff out there and a lot of academic research showing their value
but like most complex topics, when framed correctly, any number of sides can be advocated as being the best - we tend to gravitate to the free market side of things because that's the direction we've gone in as a country so those are the ones who get promoted, they are the ones teaching the next generation etc
same reason why most americans will dismiss socialism out of hand while also lamenting the cost

Do you realize the vast majority of the deficit is linked to ever-increasing payments to social security, medicare and medicaid yes?
Do you realize not renewing Trump tax cuts wouldn't be enough at all? and raising taxes only on the very rich wouldn't as well?
Maybe the left should start admitting that it's either higher taxes for normal people, or a cut in benefits, or both.

at the time the consensus was it never existed a positive (economic) case for tariffs for developed countries, while developing countries can sometimes have a reason to protect sectors that just started out, otherwise they basically never develop domestic manufacturing (especially if first world countries have tariffs of their own).
the most common cited example is South Korea 50 years ago, there would perhaps be no Samsung et al if they always had free trade.

it's that in this forum I have been criticized for claiming that trump and MAGA on economics had some radical leftist tendencies couple with some right-wing libertarian ones.
which is why actually right-wing libertarian types could think trump was preferable to Harris but had to be weary.

Lidl, Carrefour, Esselunga, conad, coop, basically all the major places here don't sell American beef in Italy over the counter.
small artisanal butchers at least those in my cities don't as well as far as I can tell.
and I am talking places that have danishz Irish, Spanish beef for selection, "upscale" and not cheap at all.
maybe it was a vacuum packed thing, I never even think about checking them I 100% only buy meat in the normal fashion (from the big piece at cold temperature and I tell them the cut and stuff).

the 40% that actually has any real world relevance isn’t going to get better by putting a crazy person in charge.
Biden was voted in partially because of a perception that Trump botched covid badly. Of course he is going to enact stronger covid policies. And if anything people were angry that he didn’t give them even more money.
not that I agree with people that the US “did nothing” as some people think just because they didn’t do a direct UBI like other countries did.
