President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

I don't want to hear you crying about Apple; I want to know why you didn't buy a Purism phone. You said you buy American whenever you easily can, but that's apparently bullshit.

Never heard of Purism. I won't need a phone for a while (unless mine breaks) but even then, $800? Too pricey.

I've actually never had any coffee

Well, I wasn't expecting that.

That's how all religions work. Predict Y will happen, if Y happens take credit. If Y doesn't happen make excuses for why the prediction wasn't wrong.

religion equation theory? coun't me confused.

Have you smelled coffee? I have. My mother was a coffee drinker.

I'm not going to intentionally put something that smells like that into my mouth.

Keep your nasty bean-water. If I need caffeine, I'll slowly kill myself with Diet Coke just like Raptor Jesus intended.

No you are.

I'm talking about all politicians.

Good job tho.

I know you were. I was using Pelosi as a stand-in for all the politicians you deride while simultaneously ignoring or excusing the Musk/Thiel business masters when they do massively larger versions of the same thing. In other words, revealing your ignorance. You're welcome!

What the hell is Purism?

I have never seen a day like this with bonds rates move so much .
Seem it’s calming down but maybe we are just in the eye of the tornado …

One fake news in the morning the market move by 4 trillions today in like 10m !
Clearly trump got the market by the balls .
Let’s see his next move .

i love how you make stuff up to try to fit into your oversized clown shoes.

yes they all do it.

i'm not excusing anyone of doing it.

Like that guy in Casino who had his head in a vice, had the vice by the balls.

It's an American made iPhone rip called Liberty with half the storage, half the RAM, and half the CPU speed of an iPhone for $2K.

by Inso0 k

Because I don't hate having money in my pocket.

And I don't own a Purism phone because I've never heard of them until just now. I've had three smartphones in the last 14 years and I'm only on year 2 of this current one. In 2030 when it's time to retire this one, I'll be sure to check on the reviews for Purism's latest offerings.

Gotcha... so an economic decision, not a principle based one.

Sounds like you need some good ol' fashioned Republican wisdom, which is... pull yourself up by your bootstraps, and make some more money son!
😉 😀

Ya... it's a mess out there right now.

It's difficult for investors to know where things are going to move, because obviously Trump is an idiot, and he thought he could bully countries into cutting some kind of deal for an issue that doesn't exist.

Trump see's the market as zero-sum. He operates his entire world view from a perspective of winners and losers, and he's always the winner. He can't conceive of a world where there's mutually beneficial trade. So it's going to be real difficult from that viewpoint to even have fair trade.

Compound that w/ the fact he doesn't appear to understand how trade deficits aren't necessarily bad things, and that when you have the strongest economy in the world, you're likely going to have trade defects w/ other countries. This should be common sense, but...

Then the topper is he doesn't understand how this balances out because other countries buy American services. We have the largest tech industry in the world, that other countries buy in to. They send us cheap plastic goods and food, and we send them meta, and windows, and apple OS, etc...

As a bonus, you have to try and weigh in on how much of Putin's work is Trump truly doing. I mean, he obviously doesn't understand any of this. Want a good laugh? Listen to him for 5 mins about tariffs and trade. And if he doesn't understand any of this... why would he be doing it... which circles back to Putin and creating a new world alignment for me.

Yeah, he endorses rhetoric like, "People should be happy to take a bath on their 401k's for the health and future of the country" but can't pull the trigger on a $1K iPhone when that's what he spends on Diet Coke in a year.

Nah, he pulls some coupon scam and gets it on the cheap from the self-checkout machines.

Imagine what good you could do in the world if you used your memory superpowers for something positive, d2.

I'm in my 40s and am a long time PC user. If I wanted to pay twice the price for the same functionality, I'd buy an Apple product. If I wanted to pay four times the price for half of the functionality, I'd apparently buy American.

For now I'll let the Koreans have my money.

Ya... well, cults are extremely difficult to break out of psychologically. There's been a lot of studies on this.

I actually watched a fox news guy today try and explain how the economy going down was actually good, and they were zooming out 5+ years to show that, "this is just a normal part of the ups and downs."

We really need logic, and philosophy classes in HS in America imho.

And speaking of philosophy, my degree is finally getting it's due after a lifetime of people asking me, "why they hell did you go to school for that?". Instead of everyone telling their kids to get engineering, doctor, or programming degrees, the #1 recommended field now is becoming.... Philosophia.

Can you imagine that? 😉

My point is that you routinely blame politicians for corruption while ignoring or justifying the extreme corruption coming from prominent businesspeople. For the record, it's far from just you, all sorts of conservatives, liberals, and others do this. Elon Musk engages in far more severe and damaging-to-the-planet corruption than any individual Congressperson could dream of, yet you spend far less time (if any?) snarking about him.

A different but kinda similar phenomenon happens in sports -- fans of a bad team are always calling for the firing of the GM, head coach, coordinators, the waterboy, and everyone else, and SO FEW of them blame the original cause of the rot -- the owner.

Legitimately hilarious that Ins0 and his fellow Trump ballwashers have fallen back to "Actually, cheap consumer products are bad, do you really need coffee, bananas, and smartphones?"

Embracing one word Ins0 says as legitimate discourse worthy of debate is a massive leak

Just sayin

Not to turn this into an Apple-bashing derail, but Steve Jobs definitely curated himself a cult following and peoples' obsession with Apple devices is not at all justifiable.

You pay a massive markup for what amounts to a slightly shinier package, reduced flexibility, and planned obsolescence. Why? So people won't make fun of you for having green bubbles? You'd only know about the green bubbles if you yourself bought into the Apple rhetoric in the first place.

Americans are foregoing retirement savings to stay up to date on annual iPhone releases, and filtering romantic partners by phone manufacturer. If that isn't cult-like behavior I don't know what is.

I am not arguing that Apple doesn't make excellent devices. They very clearly do. But they also charge 3-10x than what should be deemed reasonable for many of their products, and they get away with it because people are drunk on their Kool Aid. It's very bizarre.

I work with an Apple cult member, and he's just plain weird.

Wait, really?

That is so funny and pathetic! I'm cracking up over here. You have more information about this?

much weirder than MAGAT cult members I'm sure....

That does sound weird. 😀

I'm anti-apple, simply because I'm old school in the tech world. Before the internet, when nerds would talk to each other on modems, and most people entering someone's house w/ a computer, just thought it was another TV screen... tech nerds had a pact about backing, and ensuring the democratization of technology, so all people (or as many as possible) could have access to it.

Apple broke this pact, and anyone who is older like me and in this world understands what it means. Jobs knew what he was doing when he went against this pact and created closed architecture systems. I will only support open architecture because it invites wider competition and keeps costs low for everyone.

I'm old school and principled, and as a result, I'd never own an apple product... even though I have to watch my own kids use them, and my wife finally gave in last year too, because "I want to be able to send thumbs up easily back to people".

Awesome...

Anyone else go to Hands Off? When can I expect my check from Soros?

It's all Putin's fault.
