Let's go Golden Nugget! Now you're last but don't be least! Give us some great mixed games. I've got some holes to fill in my mixed games only schedule.

In addition to what others have detailed about this years Aria Classic.....I am super disappointed in the lack of PLO on this years schedule!? When everyone else is slowly adding more and more of the growing game......The so called hub of PLO in vegas (20+ tables of PLO cash going at night during the summer series) goes from 14 PLO tournaments down to 5?! smh

100% agreed. The $600 PLO 1-day and 2-day events at Aria were some of my favorites from the last two summers.

Going to be out there 6/25 - 7/5. Plan was to fire NLHE tournies & PLO tournies $1K or below and play PLO cash. I don't see great PLO tourney options while I'm there, so for now I see myself firing in the $300 Gladiators event multiple times between the 25th & 28th, then firing in the Mini Main flights on the 29th and 30th. Might try the $300 PLO satty on 7/3 at Aria.

I think next year, I'll wait for a schedule or two to be released before confirming my dates. The first half of the WSOP is chock-full of events I'm looking for. Guess I just got caught up in making sure I secured a cheap flight & lodging nearby over making sure there were plenty of both PLO and NLHE tournaments going on in my range.

The WSOP put the group of mixed games that I rather enjoy earlier than usual this year. All the other tourney schedules are similar with their ordering.

I wish they would stagger mirroring events with 2-day lag. But maybe the casinos are riding all the day 1 "weekend warrior" types.

Hope they (WSOP) go back to something like that in the future.

Nugget did a pretty good job with their schedule. They included plenty of variety.

Already booked my trip for 5/29-6/4 to focus on the Nugget series in the hopes it would be better than The Orleans, and they delivered! It's sad Orleans only multi flight series this year is their main. I guess in previous years, multi flight Guarantee overlays were killing them.

Agreed that time period is very surprisingly empty of PLO MTTs for that price range compared to the past few years (sorry that you chose like the worst possible time, lol). It seemed like they had been getting increasingly popular and you could find them pretty much every week, all summer long so your plan wasn’t that bad- Aria just pivoted this year.

There’s a $400 PLO on 6/29 at MGM if interested instead of one of the Mini Main flights.

The Nugget has CHANGED THEIR SCHEDULE PER X

"We've received a lot of positive feedback on the schedule and appreciate everyone's RTs/Likes

We also received some negatives on the timing on some of the mixed game scheduling conflicts. After reviewing and listening to the mix game community, we have decided to make some changes for certain mixed games so there's little to no overlap.

We apologize for the inconvenience of having to revamp parts of the schedule but are certain everyone will love the changes to the mixed game line up. NLH/Featured Events were not touched and we added Super Seniors.

Shoutout to
@PearlJammed
for the feedback and input.

Updated EV#s for #SeatGiveaway
2 Seats for EV#1 $400/$25K NLH
1 Seat for EV#9A $300/$250K Mystery
1 Seat for EV#33 TORSE $400/$20K
1 Seat for EV#30 HORSE $400/$30K

Below is the updated schedule! "

For me personally they ADDED a Super Senior event #78 on June 23. A huge improvement since they made both their Senior and Senior championship WEEKS earlier than last year. (6/5 and 6/14) in 2024 all 3 of these old fart events were after June 21st in 2024.

Is that one a 1 day event?

GN changes appear to bunch the mixed games into the middle of the schedule - good for me. Big fan of the Grand venue and mixed games.

FWIW yesterday I looked at booking the GN from June 9 to June 20 and the regular rate was actually less than the poker rate = particularly on the weekend. Not a huge amount but worth checking both.

Now that all the schedules are out, I've penciled out my plan. I'll be staying at Cosmopolitan from June 11-19, with a $1500 tournament budget (separate from our "gambling" budget), and my wife; so I have to also schedule in days with her and no tournaments. Be interested in feedback.

(W) June 11: Arrive w/Wife, Eat Drink, Gamble (EDG)
(Th) June 12: 9am WSOP Weekly Seniors ($250) (1 Day)
(F) June 13: 10am MGM Grand Stack $50k GTD ($250) (2 Day)
(Sa) June 14: Day 2 of Grand Stack or w/Wife, Pool Day at Cosmo, EDG.
(Su) June 15: WSOP Salute to Warriors ($500) (3 Day)
(M) June 16: Day 2 of Salute to Warriors or w/Wife, Pool Day at Cosmo, EDG.
(Tu) June 17: Day 3 of Salute to Warriors or MGM Grand Mystery Bounty ($500) (2 Day)
(W) June 18: Day 2 of MGM Grand Mystery Bounty or w/Wife, Pool Day at Cosmo, EDG.
(Th) June 19: Depart w/Wife, EDG

I think this covers the bases. It get a WSOP event, a Senior's Event, a mystery bounty event, and the MGM Grand $50k GTD is scheduled at the same time as a WSOP Monster Stack ($1500) Flight, which should mean a softer field at MGM Grand. I'm trying to maximize my tournament cashing opportunities with my limited budget and spousal responsibilities. What do ya'll think? Am I missing any "opportunities" ?

Looks good! I'm a proponent of Resorts World dailies for good value budget events, but that's a long trek from the Cosmo.

I'll be in town for a very similar window and will also be playing the Salute, which it feels like most everybody on these 2P2 threads is going to play. I played it last year and thought it was great value for the $$$. I'm not sure there's a better WSOP event to provide a good tournament experience on a budget. The Colossus and Deepstack Championship might be the only contenders.

Nice stretching of your $1500!

Bonus points for being able to take the monorail. I'm driving but I don't want to deal with the traffic, along with the very long walk from the parking garage, so if I try to parrot some of your schedule, I'll probably be monorailing it.

RW is going to have smaller prize pools though. I like the Salute too, but I hope I can't play it because I'm busy with Day 2 of the Monster. Likewise if you run deep in the Salute, you'll be aced out of the Seniors. Sure would be nice to have those problems...

by 3snowocean

What are your thoughts on the $500 freezeout?

The $500 WSOP event on 6/23? It's not something I would prioritize, but if I were in town that day then I would certainly consider playing it. I played similar events in 2022 and 2023. These 30 minute level WSOP events are more akin to a typical daily tournament in pace, but the field sizes are too huge to play down to a winner without the second day. They'll hit payouts after dinner break and only a very small fraction of the pool will bag chips, maybe around 5%.

There are some positives to these events. They provide a low entry point for players to get a taste of the WSOP experience on a budget. The player pool is generally going to be pretty soft due to the huge field size and relatively high concentration of shot takers. The prize pools will be massive, so if you can find the rungood of a lifetime, you can bink an outrageous multiplier of your entry fee. You'll have a non-zero probability of the elusive bracelet if that means anything to you.

Some of the negatives are that these are massive cattle calls with a rapid structure and (usually) 10-handed tables. I don't assume that everyone has the same preferences as me when it comes to choosing tournaments, but personally I prefer a slower structure because I think I can pick spots more selectively and be more patient. Shorter levels increase the role of pure variance and luck. If you are more casual in nature, that can actually be a positive since it would be easier to fluke a deep run in something like this than in a deep/slow tournament like the Main. But if you are looking for a more serious and prestigious feel, I think you'd be better served playing an event where you get more play for your $$$ (such as Colossus, Monster Stack, Salute, Deepstack Championship).

The huge field sizes at the WSOP can be interpreted as either a positive or negative depending your preferences. They provide the opportunity for a life-changing score that you simply won't get off-season in a Wynn $600 or Venetian $400 single day. On the other hand, the huge field sizes mean you're facing much longer odds to make the final table and win. The actual EV may not be any better, and the variance is a lot higher. In a 200 person tournament, you have a pretty realistic chance to make the final table. In a 4000 person tournament, it's effectively a pipe dream. As most of your EV is buried in the top rungs and you're unlikely to get that far, you could play several of these tournaments every summer for the rest of your life and never realize anything close to your true EV. That's an argument for prioritizing smaller fields.

Ultimately, it's all about what you're looking for. My first WSOP event was an evening flight of the $365 Giant in 2018. I don't recall the structure, but it was probably 20-30 minute levels. These days I might thumb my nose at an event like that, but for a first-timer with no prior WSOP experience, it was magical to play that one. You could have a great time at the $500 freezeout and if you get really lucky, there's always the chance of a crazy run. If you are looking to maximize your play per $$$, it's not a special option though.

Not sure if this has been sufficiently covered in this thread but PH looks like they’re getting back in the poker business. They’re running a mixed game series prior to the WSOP for anyone interested in that sort of thing. Details can be found in this article. I Haven’t heard about a Goliath series this summer, but I imagine one might happen in the future… or perhaps a WSOPc stop. They still have tons of space @ PH.
