Hot Fun in the Summertime: Lounge LC Thread
One day, I hope soon, we will wake up to the news that the orange buffoon is dead. I long for that day.
1953, the year I was born:
Playboy published first issue
Kinsey Report on Female Sexuality released
Polio Vaccine released
Stalin Dead
Korean War ends
US installs the Shah
Hillary and Norgay conquer Everest
I tell my students this, so I can end with "I am born."

1963, the year I was born:
"I Have a Dream" speech"
JFK assassination
Patsy Cline dies in plane crash
The Kingsmen record "Louie, Louie"
The Coca-Cola Company introduces its first diet drink, Tab cola.
Steve McQueen's The Great Escape is released
The US Postal Service starts using zip codes
The Great Train Robbery takes place in Buckinghamshire, England.
Doctor Who premiers on the BBC
Marvel releases their Superhero assembly team The Avengers.
That was fun
Am I misremembering, or was Tab Cola horrible?
You are correct, sir.
Does your post mean that birthday greetings are in order, Dominic? If so, happy birthday.
Charlie,
I watch a lot of British series, and I can't adjust to "different to."
Obviously, it should be "different from."

in the 90s, my work girlfriend would get fed up with something, grab me, and we would walk to the only corner store in Austin that stocked Tab. I thought it was a strange mission, but then I noticed that they also stocked Squirt, so i was happy with the outings and it was all good.
I still don't understand how people could drink Tab, though.
Hey charlie. Not sure if you're interested, but the latest National Geographic has an article on mudlarks I'm finding interesting so far.
For anyone who doesn't know, those are people who go down in the mud of the Thames and find old relics when the tide is out. Its less about what they've found than the permitting process, which has changed over the last several years.

Thanks, just read it. Now the Disney Corporation has my email.
I didn't know you needed a permit, or that it was so popular. I go walking by the Thames almost every day, in Battersea Park. Finding old shoes and false teeth in the river mud is not my own idea of fun, although I have enjoyed looking for glass on Seaham beach on holiday before.

familiar with Jerry Wayne Longmire?
A+
Sometimes the people you work with are just colleagues, but if you're lucky they are also your friends. Just saying I've been lucky.
