Any gamers here? I've logged 62 hours into the game Death Stranding 2, from the mastermind of Hideo Kojima. The first game was one of my all time favorite gaming experiences because the narrative is so off the wall wacky and also deeply emotional. The sequel has surpassed my lofty expectations and features some stunning artwork.

The game also arrived at kind of the perfect time, the same day my cat passed away. It's given me something to focus on, keep my mind busy. You spend much of the game delivering packages to people. Connecting people to a network that empowers them, gives them access to researching projects with others on the network, find ways to help each other. And the main currency in the game is likes. So when you accomplish big tasks you get more likes. Characters in the game give you likes for doing stuff for them. it's kind of the currency of this day and age, a lot of fun parallels in this game to the world we live in. I estimate I'm about halfway through. Definitely getting my money's worth on this one.

This. I had to ask permission to come in the house, not to leave it.

I played baseball and basketball. My parents would try to attend one of my games a season to show their support. This I tolerated because of my gracious nature.

I can't remember either of my parents at a little league game ever? I was a 4 year gymnast in high school and I believe they showed up to 2 meets over 4 years. And that was perfect πŸ˜€ I would guess I had/have a stronger and better relationship with my parents than the smothering that goes on nowadays. They always showed up and supported me for the more important stuff. One of my favorite memeories was when my father took the Tiger cruise with me while in the Navy. The Tiger cruise was on the way back from a Westpac where the Tigers (Sons and Fathers, it was all male back then) would fly to Pearl Harbor and cruise back to San Diego on the ship. He really enjoyed it.

Not a gamer really at all but I do have an xbox (not currently hooked up). But when I got it I got hooked on Forza (2,3 and 4) loved 2 and 3 not so much 4. But I tried Forza due to some posts from you talking about it. Still a Forza fan or nah?

I've seen those lawyer commercials. Honestly thought they were a send-up.

i would not expect any other response from you

Cathedral Park is a stunning example of how infrastructure may provide something more than moving vehicles
a result created by the buttress footings of St Johns bridge
now an understandable location for weddings and other such spiritual family celebrations any time of year

I messaged Zeno about a month ago but haven't heard back from him. I'm concerned because we know each other pretty well, and we even met up in NYC for a weekend a few years ago.

i would be interested in updates if you happen to hear anything

many aspects of his posting rankled my haunches but in the end he is still a human as the rest of us

Not bad for 7-11 ice cream!

John/Mack, rember the field trips to Coke bottling plants, Wonder Bread bakeries, the zoo, air traffic control towers, not to mention Amusement Park Day the last week of school? I got suspended for at least one of them but can’t remember any details. Think I spent the whole day in the library.

Not to mention Scholastic Book Club and the perforated cardboard sheet of Saturday Matinee tickets.

The parents that were at every game were ones you didn’t want there. Bill Simmons wrote a good column about kids today not only want you at every game, they want you watching every second of every game. Complete dynamic flip.

Drunk coaches were hilarious though.

I was thinking about weird place names in the US. There's Belchertown MA

A hamlet within which I once resided.

When I was a kid we would go all day without seeing or interacting with any adults. Both kids and adults prefered it that way πŸ˜€

Out the door as early as dawn, back by 10 or 11 at night; all was good. I'm thinking it started to change with the Adam Walsh disappearance back in 1981.

Went to dinner with the kids last night. The kids are my daughter, my granddaughter, and son-in-law. They are going to London and Paris in August. My daughter used AI to plan the trip. Basically, she entered their interests and ages.

Kristin just said AI suggested a book store in Paris. So I said it must be Shakespeare and Co. Then I told her it was started by Sylvia Beach, and she first published Joyce's Ulysses. Kristin said I knew you were going to say that when you mentioned Joyce first.

My daughter and I both possess this sort of random information. My granddaughter simply shakes her head while the son-in-law just gives us these looks.

My tells my granddaughter what do you expect after forty years.
Side note: AI also suggested the Tate in London, but the son-in-law vetoed this since they are going to enough museums.

I feel badly for my son-in-law who has to put up with three nerds.

Yep. The milk cartons started in 1984 (I thought it was much earlier), and America’s Most Wanted went on the air in 1988.

I mean, we rightly romanticize the 70s, but there were serious problems. The helicoptering, bubble wrapping, overscheduling, and parents as their kids friends stuff of the past thirty years has also created serious problems imo.

The Big Hurt (Frank Thomas)
Shoeless Joe Jackson
Big Papi (David Ortiz)

Pet sitting tonight. My friend left me the key to his Aston-Martin Superleggera. Might take it out for a spin.

Not starting Oil Can in the final game of the 86 Series was breathtakingly stupid, even for the Red Sox. Once I heard he had been scratched, I knew my Mets were golden.

the mets were also my team at the time, probably started because Gary Carter then quickly included Doc, Straw, Darling, Sid, Mookie, Lenny, Wally, and all the others

John "Blue Moon" Odom
Jim "Catfish" Hunter
Reggie "Mr. October" Jackson

from our childhood

Thought of Hargrove today. Dealing a tournament for our bar-poker league/ Upon consolidation, the Human Rain Delay came to my table.

By far the most deliberate player in our league. Not hollywooding, just very, deliberate most of the time. Good dude, just plays slowly.

Sweet Jesus, talking about manager decisions. Bill Virdon pulled Joe Morgan in the 9th for defense, then found himself without a clutch performer when he landed in extra innings

I agree completely. I still think they would have won with Oil Can. He was a good big game pitcher.

When the semester begins, we have staff wearing buttons that say, "Ask Me Anything."

No one has been able to tell me Honus Wagner's lifetime batting average.

Anyway, from the days when you only knew the players from their names in the box scores. My favorite baseball song (Casey Stengel said he was afraid of Van Lingle Mungo). I find it both nostalgic and poignant.

I think Trump should issue an executive order to put Joe Jackson and Pete Rose in the HOF.
