President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

rightwing libertarians are about economic freedoms above everything else combined. Trump delivered on crypto and Ross. And they aren't necessarily pro open border when welfare exists (they would all be at no welfare and no path to citizenship ofc). And democrats hired IRS agents while Trump is gutting the IRS. There is hardly anything more spectacularly pro libertarians than tha

When was the last time a libertarian government was in power successfully efficient and bring prosperity for the majority of people ?

Not sure man, remember trump has his own idiosyncratic preferences. For example he hates wind turbines so much (never understood why) ...

It's because in 2012 he lost his case against an 11-turbine wind farm being built in a position overlooking his Menie golf course in Aberdeenshire. He took it all the way to the UK Supreme Court. The turbines were installed in 2018, visible from the course, and are still annoying him. And he has an elephant's memory for slights.

For example he hates wind turbines so much (never understood why) that he managed to cut a lot of projects in red states anyway.Trump isn't the cynical republican minmaxing his own benefits and his constituents/donors benefits. He tariffed inputs for sectors that are massively republican managed (like house bui

trump hires illegals himself dude. Seems pretty clear cut to me.

Not really. Libertarians have also in the past been very concerned with civil liberties as well, which Trump has campaigned on removing civil liberties and even sentencing drug dealers to death. They also don't like tariffs because they are both a tax and interfere with free trade.

Now a paleo-conservative might love Trump. I'm sure Buchanan would have been a close Trump advisor if he was still around.

Pretty sure he hasn't been personally involved in low level hiring for 30+ years if ever. Not because he would have any problem in hiring illegals, but because hiring irrelevant employees is "beneath him"

What difference does that make? It only counts if you personally hire them? I'm gonna take a wild guess and say he's done that a fair bit too--isn't he basically married to one? I have a feeling she was a little less than legal at some point 😀

That judges don't judge based on the criteria that they are pretending to use.

This is a terribly unsophisticated way of thinking about legal decisions, but OK.

The link you attached says that Pat Buchanan actually is still around!

Lelz Guliani getting the medal of freedom

So newsom wants to create a meme coin

/

California governor Gavin Newsom has said he will release his own meme coin in the Democratic politician's latest dig at President Donald Trump.

Newsom said Friday on the Pivot with Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway podcast that he'd step up his campaign to mock President Trump by releasing "Trump Corruption Coin."

The California governor joked that the upcoming cryptocurrency would do better than the digital token President Trump released in January, the Solana-based cryptocurrency that trades as Official Trump.

Sure do!

Lelz Guliani getting the medal of freedom

Going on TV and ruining the lives of two Georgia wlwction workers who did absolutely nothing wrong was disgusting even by his standards. Having no remorse pretty much highlights how evil people like Trump and Rudy are.

Lelz Guliani getting the medal of freedom

Apparently Rudy has been agitating for Trump to give him this award for years, which is even more lol.

Shouldn't be shocking anymore, but still kinda shocking how out of his depth Trump is in geopolitics and Russia's invasion

I don’t know. We got along,” he said. “You saw it, we’ve had a good relationship over the years, very good, actually. That’s why I really thought we would have this done. I would have loved to have had it done.

Lol at being close to anything. The Trump administration has nobody competent actually negotiating. The only way Trump could have ended the war without anyone representing Ukraine involved is if Putin just agreed to stop the war. Seems like in Trump's idiotic understanding that was a real option because Putin says nice things to him. Would be a much bigger deal if expectations for Trump's abilities weren't set so low.

Any of the patriots willing to admit they voted for the most corrupt president in history yet?

A sizable portion will just lie and say they didn’t vote for him. It’s already happening.

apparently orangeman's approval rating is currently at a record low, so yeah seems like a lot of ppl are understanding that they made a mistake

But some of those "disapprovers" would still find a reason to vote for him again.

This is a terribly unsophisticated way of thinking about legal decisions, but OK.

Sometimes a simplistic summary is best. If the constitution logically demanded a certain result, then how could four out of eleven (including two who usually come down on the other side of issues) vote the other way? (Forgive me if I have my cases confused.)

Of course .

by David Sklansky

Sometimes a simplistic summary is best.

And sometimes it is not.

Logic obviously plays a huge role in the law, but it doesn't follow that a relatively short document logically compels an inevitable result in every case that presents a constitutional question. Constitutional law isn't math. Now ask the follow up question. Does the wiggle in the joint that I am describing logically compel the conclusion that legal decisions are mostly just exercises in partisan politics? The answer is no.
