President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
Well for starters, he's got a whole army of people, including him, who clearly want a legit war with the left - and an actual army to do it.I'm not sure what you're saying here but I don't strongly disagree with what Newsome is doing, stakes are high, and maybe this generates some folks to get into the situation and to see it for what it is. Who knows. But the truth is, is that
Let’s not forgot , the last election was very close .
If newsom trolling can just shift 2-3% of people that is enough to win and imo it could work .
Like only the U.S. themselves could have knock themselves out (congrats maga) .
Only trump can knockdown trump , hopefully pushing him to the edge could make trump do a very very very very stupid thing .
Yeah it takes a lot of very but hey we never known…
Trump could actually be stupid enough to do it on a bad day shrug .
It's a reasonable take.
Maybe the dems go balls out on attacking Trump and Trump does something stupid to cause his base to face palm the situation and move on. I would imagine that that would be an incredible level of stupid, though. But might as well roll with and see. You'd essentially be freerolling since the dems will never actually takes the steps needed to increase their own turnout.
According to someone like you that quotes radical feminists, probably a lot.
checkraisedraw is the normal centrist democrat (IE quite close to the people you need to win at the margin to win elections) and you guys routinely treat him as a very unwelcome guest you are kinda disgusted by and can only barely tolerate.
yet he is already to the left of center of american politics (albeit barely).
GL getting normies in the center like you
To be fair most of the animosity towards people that I have felt has been from people I highly suspect to not vote for Democrats and who get a secret glee when Democrats lose.
Regardless of whether your assessment of crd is correct, I am highly skeptical of his suggestion that the physical appearance of male candidates matters more to female voters than it does to male voters.
Maybe, but I find it hard to believe given how much support from men a fat, ugly dickface like Trump can get. But maybe they are attracted by proxy to his wife, given how much the right obsessed over Kamala, Hillary, and Michelle Obama’s appearances.
I stand by my comments that a good looking white man doesn’t have a gender handicap though.
If it is a factor for men though, the handsome, playboy governor from CA that dated the president’s son’s girlfriend before he did, is actually tall and athletic, and gives out the appearance of competence should tick all the aesthetic boxes.
Maybe Democrats are above those considerations, but maybe we shouldn’t be.
I thought it missed the mark because it was condescending, dismissive, and gendered. Men project their own weaknesses onto women.
I guess I’m just not educated enough to know what “gendered” means in this context? Is it just the observation that gender exists and it should be factored into our political strategy?
Or do you think that I somehow think ONLY women are influenced by aesthetics? Which I am happy to say I know for a fact is not the case. There are tons of young men that take everything some dude on tiktok says as gospel precisely because he has a six pack, no matter how idiotic the statements are. It’s just that I think much more about what would appeal to women as a democrat because they form an important part of our political core. Hence I only talked about LIBERAL wine moms. Idgaf what conservative wine moms who will never vote democrat anyway have to say.
I really don’t like you
And that's why he is doing it. Enough people like it.
This quote obviously wasn't describing internet trolling, but it nevertheless seems apt.
Whatever your original motivation, if you imitate abhorrent behavior often enough, you have a way of turning into the thing you are imitating.
yeah what people seem to forget is that trump probably started that way - just saying/talking like that because it riled up his base in the primaries and then it just became him
That’s called irony poisoning
Which is what will happen when every idiot newsom fan starts copying it and everyone loses the ****ing plot
I can't believe people are seriously arguing that acting like a fukking reetard is a sound campaign strategy.
What's next - we should pick our candidates from 8th grade detention at an alternative school? Get your fukking minds straight.
Gavin quite literally looks like an idiot with a severe case of TDS. With all of Trump's faults, incompetence, idiocy, etc., Gavin's really not bright enough to defeat him with logic?

Gavin pays two interns to make satirical posts about Trump and people think his entire campaign is predicated around parodying the writing style of Trump.
Which other governor is leading the way on the opposition to Trump substantively stronger than Gavin?

Is Gavin running against Trump in 2028?
What happened in 2016? After two years, everyone Trump backed lost and then he lost to a sundowner. With Trump's approval rating at 40%, it will be in the low 30's this time next year. There is zero need to act like a reetard, as it just makes you look like a reetard.
I like Newsom's trolling because in the end I know Newsom is trolling and Trump is still Trump.
During Biden's term, Democrats passed one of the biggest legislative acts in modern history aimed at restoring American manufacturing, ensure education institutions could educate people for future technology and ensure job safety as the world shifts to greener technology. It was passed through a largely hostile congress and in a hyper-partisan political environment, in one of the deftest political moves we've seen in American politics for a long time.
I think I saw three posts on it here, and I am pretty sure I wrote two of them and the third was a reply to me... and I'm not even American. I'm sure there were a few other posts, but as an issue the entire thing was obviously about as interesting to people as an average lamp-post.
If people want to lament that serious politics is dead, then they can fix that to by showing an interest in serious politics. Sitting on the fence and washing down Trump's crap with a glass of tears isn't serious politics.
The tactics of Newsom's campaign (that's what this is, let us be real) is about the only democratic political move I have seen discussed for more than a couple of pages on this forum in recent years, because everything else has just drowned in a torrent of Trump downpour. If Newsom had only done "serious politics", nobody would be talking about him. He'd be just another in a long line of democratic politicians nobody gives a crap about.
Perhaps that is a sad state of affairs, but this is the political climate of the US politics (and increasingly also the rest of the democratic world). It isn't going to change anytime soon. Now you can choose someone who mocks this crap, or someone who makes this crap. That choice might very well land in Trump's favor, but there is at least a choice.
For what it's worth, a lot of the satirical posts made are actually a bit more clever than they seem. Behind the stupid language and over-the-top rhetoric, there are nuggets about actual crime statistics, problems in Republican states, controversial statements by political opponents and so forth.

This post reads like it was written by an 8th-grader in detention at an alternative school.
Speaking of which, Trump is doing a 180 degree on "sending the national guard" around, and is now waiting for governors to ask for it, and thinks he will probably send them to New Orleans after all
https://www.politico.com/news/2025/09/03...
So fascist of him to accept that he has to wait for a governor to ask him...
