Fall LC Thread: Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing
Going for a round of vaccines today. We old guys aren't taking any chances.

We couldn't walk inside the auditorium, where Dylan tested it, because they were rehearsing for a performance that evening, which was a Star Wars movie on a giant screen with an orchestra doing the music live. The building did suffer from notoriously bad acoustics, however (the guide said how much Wagner detested it), which they mitigated by hanging upside-down mushroom-shaped fibreglass diffusers from the ceiling.
Jeremy Bentham's head was once stolen and held for ransom. And it seems his skeleton has been taken into a couple meetings and declared present but not voting.

Happy Friday! Just popped my post expiration day close beer. Havent had a drink in a couple of weeks and it really tastes good 😀
Plan on watching my first Christmas movie of the year tonight as I am gonna try real hard to get into the holiday spirit this year. Hope to watch at least a couple a week until Christmas.
Favorite Christmas movies: Bad Santa and My Night at Maud's, one which mrbaseball would hate.

Charlie Brown Christmas is awesome! I was a huge Peanuts fan as a kid and had all of the compilation books and distinctly remember the the first airing of Charlie Bown Christmas. It and the Grinch are the best "cartoons".
Favorite dialog exchange in The Feast of the Seven Fishes discussing Christmas music.
Girl: I like Julie Andrews Christmas album I have listened to it hundreds of times.
Guy: I'm a Dean Martin guy. I like Baby it's Cold Outside.
Girl: I don't know that one?
Guy: I guess it's more about Dean getting laid than Christmas.
I remember thinking The Night Before was going to be a "xmas tradition watch". Haven't watched it again, ever. Maybe I'll give that a rewatch this year and see if it's as good as I thought it was.
So far, I've watched A Chrstmas Carol (1938), A Christmas Carol (1951) and The Long Kiss Goodnight.
Good times.
No, no, no. There's no watching Christmas movies until after Thanksgiving. Get a grip, guys. You're adults, not children.

Working on migrating to the new Win 11 laptop. Puttering along, getting files moved/apps set up/whatever.
Win 11 gives me a place to input the PIN I set up initially upon logging on. Not sure why a PIN is safer than a password, but there were are.
So far, when I've gotten to that screen, it won't accept input from the keyboard. Either using the virtual keyboard, or restarting and trying again does the trick. Not nice, don't want that to be how it is.
It also seems as if I have to click a couple times (not a double-click) to place the cursor elsewhere. A bit smaller machine and chassis, I think I'm missing the button on the track pad.
Also the triple-click to highlight an entire word or (for example) URL doesn't work. I'll have to find the setting I'm missing.
Had a strange thing happen last night. Dealing at the bar poker league. During the first break, we lost power. Probably 8:40 ish. One of the guys lives right close. He got an update from Xcel that the expected repair time was 11:45.
Of course, being degens, we played through the outage. Everybody had the light on their phone out which provided enough illumination for us to manage, though it was slow. Somebody came up with the good idea to take an empty mug, turn it upside down on the table, then put a light on top of that, pointing down. The light refracted through the glass to help it be like a lamp for the table.
Outage lasted ~1 hour (with a quick couple-minute down after the lights came back on initially), so we got through.
I have two granddaughters. Both dance. Yesterday I sat through a 4.5 hour dance recital. My daughter kept telling me I'm an adult and could survive. I survived. Fortunately, my granddaughter was in at least a dozen dances, so that takes some of the sting out of sitting there for so long.
Two of my colleagues were also there. One has a daughter who finished dancing two years ago, but still shows up to watch the show. So Mom goes with her. I don't understand some people.
