Not sure if I already posted this.

Hey Dom, so what do you think of Drake Maye now?

lol it was the Jets. But Maye is good.
I'm really hoping the Bills travel to NE for the wildcard round. Pats' cupcake schedule in the regular season is not the playoffs. I'm betting the Pats lose to whoever they play in the WC. :p
But congrats on winning the division.
Man, I had forgotten how much I hate that βI ainβt telling you a secretβ song.
You got to know when to hold βem
And omaha βem
Know when to break a nine
When your trips rolled up
You never count your rebuys
When youβre freerolling high
Thereβll be time enough for ICM
When the solverβs done.
Happy Navy Day! As I have mentioned a few times in past years this is a personal holiday commemorating when I entered the Navy and began adulthood. This is a special one as it is the 50th! I usually reflect a little about that time in my life and then watch a couple of Navy movies. Todays feature will be In Harms Way which I probably haven't seen in 30 years. Here are a couple of photos from back in the day.

USS America anchored off of Rio de Janeiro

I just redicovered these last week as I was transferring a batch of slides to digital. Still have a lot more to do.
Happy 50th. I wonder how many of us can definitively state when we entered adulthood?
I would also like to see more pictures. That second one is beautiful.

Adulthood? I guess I was finally on my own and not a bum anymore π
F14 coming in hot!

Most of the slide to digital conversions are of pretty poor quality. After 45+ years many of the slides are way degraded and dirty. Digital cameras are the nuts!
Congratulations on the anniversary, mrb. As always, thanks for your service.
Second what John said. Those are some great photos.
More A7s please.
What was your job mrb?
Brief Navy resume. Got accepted to Officer candidate school but nearest slot available was summer of 1976. But I wanted to enter in 1975 because Jan 1, 1976 the old GI bill expired and a new (less lucrative) GI bill would be in place. My whole plan was to do a tour get out and use GI bill for grad school.
So, I enlisted figuring I could reapply for OCS once in which I did. As enlisted I was an AZ (aviation maintenance administrationman) where I was assigned to an aircraft squadron which deployed on the USS America (carrier). I took care of the squadrons aircraft logbooks. I did get reaccepted to OCS and left the squadron for that in mid 1978.
After OCS went to SWOS (surface warfare officer school) and was then assigned to a frigate (tin can!) where I was a ship driver and division officer. First I was the First Lieutenant (deck division), then Gunnery Officer and then TASS Officer (TASS = towed array surveilance system).
When my time was up after 6.5 years I followed through with my initial plan and used my GI bill for graduate school.
Planning a big New Year's Eve. I'm going to stay home, as I usually do, but I might go to one of the local bars for an early dinner and a drink and get outta there early.
For me, anyway, the coming new year is a time of reflection, a time to think about those who are gone and made my life better than I ever could have imagined.

willing to share with you in secret without thinking about it for too long pretty confidant last time i was awake for the turn of a new calendar was most likely either over ten years of not caring ago or when my neighbor thougt a good idea to give roman candles a rocket assist with his leaf blower directly toward our roof and made me buy a longer garden hose
Red,
I'm usually awake well past midnight most every night. Same for New Year's Eve. I have neighbors but never hear them.
But I don't watch any of that Times Square kind of ****. Just need to pick out a couple movies to watch.

I worked in clubs and bars when I was young, and learned to detest New Year's Eve. I refer to it as The Micro-Season of Hiding Indoors. I will spend it inside cleaning house. I'll wake up way before dawn on New Year Day and go out and treat myself to too much coffee and a big unhealthy breakfast. This tradition is over 40 years old.
If I make it to midnight it will be the first time in a long time. Guess it just depends on how late the NCAA playoff game runs tonight. Thanks for the breakdown mrb. Ever run across any subs with that towed array?
