President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Sorry if I missed your answer.

Just to be clear we're on the same page, the question was "Is it wrong to depict Trump as a monkey?"

It's a "yes" or "no" question. (Which of course you can supplement with as many words as you choose.)

Whether it is or isn't a 'false equivalence' to a prior isn't necessarily relevant to answering the question (as stated) "yes" or "no."

Are you seriously telling me with a straight face that calling depicting Trump as a monkey has the same connotation as depicting a black person as a monkey against the backdrop of American history? Seriously?? You're a twat.

Look at them porch monkeys (that just happen to be blacks) = not racist (somehow) according to Geezer

Like I said earlier, maybe a non-coward will answer my question.

(I will, of course, answer YOUR question AFTER you answer mine.)

Make it a great day!

In my opinion it would be wrong for Trump (or anyone else) to use a slur that is invariably a reference to a particular people group.

I've seen folks of all stripes and persuasions referred to as 'monkeys' or 'donkey's though. Using monkey as an insult is ubiquitous.

Lemme guess... at some point in your life you defended a white guy calling a black guy the N word because that black guy called that white guy the N word first.

by housenuts

correct. now read your prior post and try to determine the difference.

Fukk outta here with that chit.

by housenuts

yes exactly.

it was racist.

if that was his intent all along, not sure why he deletes it.

it was probably more of a: hurp durp, this is video is funny imma post it. people immediately point out it's racist, he goes oh ya, guess it is, better delete it and blame it on someone else.

blaming it on a staffer is horrible form. just own up to it and apologize.

This is tardo partisan logic.

You literally think Trump isn't aware the image is racist and needs people to point it out to him? How do you think this went down?

Admin: "Hey, buddy, I know you're like 80yo, but for hundreds of years black people have been called monkeys in a derogatory manner and it's widely-known to be racist."

Trump: "Oh, my bad. I thought you had to preface monkey with the word porch to be racist but that this is fine since it's in Africa and not on a porch in Louisiana. I'd better delete this and blame somebody else even though my press secretary publicly said it's no big deal."

BTW, the video is about election fraud bullshit evidence and then the last two seconds shows the image posted earlier.

Also, lol at all the tardos getting offended over him blaming an anonymous staffer over this considering how many people he's fukked over far worse.

I don't claim to know the historical background of so-called "porch monkeys." Wouldn't surprise me at all to learn of a racist origin for them, though.

As usual, you're a terrible guesser. (I am as well, tbh.)

I'm really surprised your master's (racist word watchout) let you continue to use the word tardo. It's very frowned upon in your lefty woke circles.

Perhaps they don't mind so much if actual tards use the word. That's probably more allowable.

Not really guessing. Just drawing a parallel that might penetrate that dome.

Nice deflection. Now address my response, tardo.

Kinda surprised that you have yet to discern that my dome is virtually impenetrable at this point in my dotage.

What is there to address? I already told you. I do find it amusing that you don't mind him blaming the staffer tho.

What's up?

Give the name of the staffer he blamed it on.

If you can't, then no one gives a chit that he did what he always does - blame other people and never apologize.

I've literally never heard Trump apologize or take ownership for ANYTHING. He must have read The Prince at some point.

Oh ok cool, no one gives a chit. Good to know.

by lozen

We will never know if he meant racist overtones

Actually, the rest of the class figured this out right away.

by Trolly McTrollson

Actually, the rest of the class figured this out right away.

Trump is adopting the political-equivalent of 'the dog ate my homework': 'A rogue staffer done did it.'

by housenuts

Again you miss it. No one gives a chit more than any other time he's done this. Why are you? This time the person is anonymous, so why are you crying?

by geezerchess

I've literally never heard Trump apologize or take ownership for ANYTHING. He must have read The Prince at some point.

If he had, he would know that the advice in The Prince is intended for... princes. Prince in this context referring to the ruler of a principality, not the son of a monarch.

Now, Machiavelli did actually write a book advising on the politics of Republics, "Discourses on Livy", which is a far better book to understand the politics of his era and a better political treatise overall.

Unfortunately for Trump, Machiavelli points out that the worst enemy of the republic is corruption. And though his work is written for political systems that have little in common with the liberal democracies and republics of the modern world, I'm pretty certain that principle still holds.

by bahbahmickey

It is a fairly well known rule in the US that you can call anyone of any race a particular animal except you can't call black people monkeys. Trump should know this rule and if he does and still reposted this video then that action is on the same level of some of the racist stuff biden has said during his career.

by Trolly McTrollson

Guys, I can't emphasize enough how rushing in here to explain away Trump's use of unambiguously vile, racist imagery makes you look like cool dudes who didn't crawl out from under a gutter.

How did you get me agreeing with the liberals ITT that you can’t compare black people to monkeys as defending trump. It seems like I did the complete opposite.

by corpus vile

Especially bahmickey pointing out how we've really crooked Joe Biden to blame ultimately.

I don’t recall blaming Biden for something trump posted.

I think his nickname was sleepy joe, not crooked Joe.

By the way, it seems like this thread is mostly in angreement into calling someone racist for re-posting an image depicting black people as monkeys. Mods, do your job and temp ban every poster who re-posted the shot of the Obama as monkeys. I saw coordi did it but I think there was a second poster who shared the racist image too.

"Ban everyone who reposted something racist the president posted to criticise it" is certainly a hot take.

What is quite surreal is that the president of the USA would get banned double quick time here as a poster, but I think that was pointed out a long time ago.

It should surprise no one that he holds forum posters to a higher standard than the president.

How am I a coward when I've already answered your question? But since as you're clearly attempting some form of "gotcha", no it isn't wrong to depict Trump as a monkey. He's a convicted felon, has allegations of paedophilia levelled at him, has vilified and demonised the president of Ukraine for committing the crime of having his country aggressively invaded and has falsely accused him of starting that war, has cosied up to the aggressive invader Vladimir Putin, has used the national guard and ICE for political purposes leading to thuggish tactics and two fatal shootings that very much appear to be flat out murder and seems to be hellbent on turning America into a semi dystopian freakshow, when he's not posting racist videos depicting black people as primates.
Depicting Trump as a monkey is actually letting him off lightly.
Especially when considering the allegations against him, it's viewed within context:

Are you saying that depicting Trump as a monkey, as a meme playing on the film Planet of the Apes, within the context of the allegations against him and depicting black people as monkeys, considering America's history of racial discrimination are the same? Are you saying it's not racist to depict black people as primates? You know damn well it is and that you're engaging in a false equivalence that isn't remotely apt. You're either trolling or a loon. Either way as pointed out, you're a twat.
Now piss off, you utterly pathetic semi trolling religious zealot and very probably racist weirdo. You truly are a joke.

I would say that it is actually worse than that. The take is that it isn't racist when Trump does it, but it is racist when people re-post to show what he did.

Not to mention that Trump is an elected head of state with a social media reach to hundreds of millions of people, and likely a billion+ indirectly, whereas this is a relatively small forum with limited reach to a couple of dozen people who largely know the views of each other.

And yes, if you echoed Trump's style to perfection, you would get banned from most forums rather quickly I suspect. Threats, world salads, spelling errors, extremism, lack of punctuation, rants and tantrums rarely make for compelling posters. He would not even last long in nationalist, nationalist-adjacent or modern "conservative" forums, who tend to rally around intellectual "leaders" capable of re-writing their idiocy into something that makes them feel good about it. A poster with Trump's style would remind them that they are idiots. Since nobody likes that, he would quickly be banned.

So, he'll do something horrible tomorrow and we'll forget about this bad thing he did. And so it goes.

That's an excellent example of a meme that fits Trump perfectly. An important point is that it's a specific ape from a movie. Well done!

Yeah you most certainly aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer, glad we agree on something.
Now answer my questions- is comparing Trump to an ape the same as comparing black people to apes? Have black people been historically compared to apes in America by raists? Is it racist to compare black people to apes or not?
You said you'd answer the questions so answer them and stop trolling.
