I prefer Grimaldi’s. Brera Osteria is good but I prefer basic pizza. Scarr’s is open in the new food court. It’s similar to the pizza at NYNY or the secret pizza place at Cosmo. It’s more convenient than Grimaldi’s if you are in the casino but Grimaldi’s is very close to the poker room.

Thanks. I needed it for last Saturday's NCAA playoff game. I didn't think it through though. $25 to park in the Venetian parking garage, that I can't get comped for 3 hours of play.

I didn't see Grimaldi's on the list of options at the poker room my last two trips. can you use it for comps?
I wanted Grimaldi's and read every line of their posted food comps list like three times at V.

Quoting myself. I later got a loyalty card match from CET Diamond to whatever Venetian card has free parking. Doh, could've saved myself a long hike.

Paris Versailles Tower:

I've been trying to make freeroll hours, so I've been taking week+ long trips. The Versailles tower is what used to be the Horseshoe tower next to the Horseshoe poker room, making it very convenient to go play whenever I have a spare hour. Ironically, the rooms there do NOT have a fridge. But everything was remodeled when the tower was converted from Horseshoe, so it's a nice step up from usual Horseshoe. It's usually hard for me to get comped rooms in this tower, but I came in mid-week and the front desk person was extra-nice and let me in for no extra charge.

The rooms are also not far from the Paris casino. There's a bit of a circuitous path over a "skybridge", but it's well-signed and once you done it a time or two it's easy to navigate. Hailing my stuff from the parking garage to the room would've been difficult going through Paris because elevators were shut down and trying to haul my cart up an escalator would not be fun, so I just walked through the Horseshoe casino. Easy trip.

Does anyone have any opinions about staying at the Linq and/or Flamingo while grinding during the WSOP? The players rates I'm getting offered for Paris and/or Horseshoe are generally decent most nights, but certain weekends the rates skyrocket and I would save money during those times staying at one of the other places. I'm debating whether it is worth the hassle to move around occasionally on prime weekends to save a few hundred bucks here and there. Spending several weeks in Vegas during the WSOP, any money you can save tends to add up fast.

just need to work through how much the convenience of not checking out & checking in twice plus ubers to an from is worth to you IMO

I always choose not to, but I'm rarely there more than 10 days & it's a poker vacation not a 'poker work trip' for me

Another solution might be to check in with myrnaftw from the roommate thread and see if he can get you decent priced rooms in the same hotel on the expensive days then at least you're only moving down the hall or maybe even can work something out to stay in the same room. Not sure how that'd work.

Agree except that Flamingo and Linq are so close to Horseshoe there's really no added cost for Ubers, unless OP has too much luggage to walk with when checking in/out.

Personally, it seems to me you value saving the money on the weekend rates, and if keeping costs down is a high priority, I'd say go ahead and do it. If you're focused on poker, there isn't anything going on in the morning anyway, so you can easily check out of your room, check to see if you can get checked in early at the new property, and if not just leave your bags with the bell desk and go about your day.

Pro tip though…next year book at the beginning of the year or even earlier. All
Bookings can be cancelled up to a few days before so you can amend if your plans change.

I got 9 nights at Horseshoe inc 3 weekends for $700 in tax and resort without any profile when I booked in Feb. It was cheaper still when I first booked in Nov but I had to change it when the schedule came out

A lot depends on how you react to heat. If you plan to arrive at the PariShoe when the events start, it's generally around 90 degrees that time of day. If you decide to use Uber or cabs every day, you take a bite out of your savings. You could take the monorail at Harrah's (?) I guess, but you still have to spend some time outside.

I tried that this year, but for some reason the rates were sky-high when I checked. I should have checked more often, but I guess I forgot.

On changing hotels I would say if you have diamond or gold it makes it super easy, you can use the vip check-in and no early check-in fees. If you don't have this then it's obviously more of a hassle. I also don't mind walking so I do change hotels during trips to keep the costs as low as possible.

As far as the Flamingo goes the rooms are okay and the location is good. I personally don't like the loud DJ music at the pool which is why I don't stay there anymore.

I can't comment on the Linq as I've never stayed there but would be interested to hear others experience there as that's the only Caesars property that's still showing comp nights for me for June.

If you plan on self parking, I'm not a fan of Flamino's parking lot. It was hard to find a spot during several past wsop trips. Linq was not as bad.

Thanks guys!

So far I've got a place for the first few weeks of the series, and I'll keep checking prices and looking at options for later in the series. Extending my trip is all contingent on me not getting completely crushed in the poker games anyway. There's a chance I could be heading home early with my tail between my legs. Haha. It's Vegas baby, let's go!

Anyway, for anyone without card status these "all inclusive" packages places are offering this year seem like they offer pretty good value. Here's one specifically for the Linq:

https://www.caesars.com/las-vegas/hotels/deals/inclusive-summer-package

It includes two restaurant meals per day complete with appetizer and desert, free parking, free drinks (unlimited I think?) at select bars plus free tickets for the skywheel. The only problem is that the deal is already sold out on all the weekend dates, but these deals are worth looking into for people that aren't getting comped rooms. I heard other places are offering similar promotions. It's nice to have the basics covered when you head to Vegas so you can use the money in your pocket for the fun stuff!

I'm still curious if anyone actually stayed at the Linq, to hear what they think.

Those aren't good for WSOP players. You could be locked into a tournament until the included restaurants close. Anything that's scheduled always gets missed.

by pig4bill m

True. It's worth comparing prices though. I booked one of these types of deals at another property (not a caesars brand) and the package deal was actually cheaper than just booking a room for people that don't have comped rooms.

Just came back from a month long stay in Vegas. Stayed at four different hotels to maximize comps and whatnot.

Fountainebleau:

Standard room, on a low floor. (Which is fine since I don't really care for the view anyway) and it was by far my favourite room during the entire visit. Room was really large for a standard room, everything was fresh and modern, and incredibly clean. The casino itself was a lot calmer than the other strip casinos, which is a plus for me. Also they havea lot of great restaurants there. Mother Wolf is one of the best italian restaurants I've ever been to, and ITO was also incredibly good. Only downside was the location at the north strip isn't the most exciting, especially in terms of poker. But with Wynn/Encore fairly close, this wasn't an issue at all. 9/10.

MGM Grand:

Executive suite. Significant downgrade from Fountainebleau, but still fine. First room stank of smoke, but they managed to move us to a new room immediately without any issue. The room and the furniture was a bit old, and everything was a lot darker and murkier compared to Fountainebleau, but everything was clean and quiet. Their poker room is dingy, but I kind of like it, although they only spread 1/3 while I was there, and while the cap was 1k, noone ever bought in for more than $300 or so while I was there. And the rake of $6 +$3(!) makes it not really worth playing. But the room is nice enough, however quite far from the larger poker rooms. 7/10.

Horseshoe:

Standard room. Not much has changed since the transfer from Ballys. Decent cheap hotel at a good location centre strip, but the cracks really start to show now, and it could really do with some renovations. Although it's nice to have a good budget option close to both Aria and Bellagio. The room however was really filthy when we came there, and even after complaining about it to the front desk, they did not address it, nor were the cleaning the upcoming days any improvement. 4/10

Vdara:

Corner suite. Vdara has always been my favourite hotel in the entire Las Vegas, but this time I was incredibly disappointed. Room was massive and had all the amenities as expected, but a lot of those were broken. Ice machine in the fridge didn't work, coffee machine was broken, and the washning machine had mold inside. They sent people up to fix those things, but it took time. Also a lot of the furniture had a lot of damage to it, and they didn't even provide proper cutlery now. Just paper plates and plastic utensils. Room itself was also not cleaned properly, and the blackout curtains didn't black out all the light properly, making the room incredibly bright during daytime even with curtains down. I really like the location next to Aria, as well as there not being a casino on the floor that you go straight into, but I was incredibly disappointed of the room, and I'm uncertain if I will ever return to my previous favourite hotel in Vegas... 2/10

thanks for the good post

Does anyone know if Vdara has ever done a room refresh since they opened? I'm guessing no, but the signs were starting to show pre-covid and I did see that Wynn has just started on their Encore room refresh which was delayed by a year. (Encore obviously not on the same tier as Vdara but they did open relatively close to each other)

I don’t know if one but the two rooms I’ve stayed in there were still really good. Same with my buddy who stayed there two years ago

In the absence of other feedback, maybe he got unlucky?

I think they did one in 2019 but thats hard to believe sometimes. They’re badly in need of one and unfortunately they’re doing Aria and Cosmo first (both of which also need a refresh).

Still staying at Vdara for WSOP because the price is way too good and the location is great.

Yeah, it’s a really great option given the kitchen and fridge etc. I’m trying horseshoe this year for the uber convenience of it but I would snap go back to Vdara.

Gym isn’t great but everything else is so easy

If they've ever done one, they certainly haven't announced it after some searching. Can't blame them for prioritizing Aria obviously. Aria has done minor refreshes in the past, but that was limited to the SkyLofts or whatever they call it these days. Looks like they recently completed or are nearing a completion of that project?

Vdara use to my primary place to stay. Only real issue at the time was that some of the rooms would get the noise from the nightclub at Cosmo. I guess I was also assigned a room that already had people in it, which was weird but not really a reflection of the hotel room itself.

MGM renovated their rooms one year ago, so I find it hard to believe that any of the funiture would be old.

Aria is getting their rooms renovated sometime this year apparently, so hopefully Vdara is next after that. I will be staying there myself in a few weeks actually, hopefully I will have more luck with my room.

PS: Are you from Norway by any chance? (ref the username).
