Put on a Happy Face: Lounge LC Thread
Around here Spring will be a little late, but what the hell, I'll start the thread now.
I just can't take the abuse any
And I was a terrible student as an undergrad. Much better when I got my two Masters.

Yeah me too. I was too busy partying and enjoying that first unique time away from home to be studious at undergrad. But by the time I went to grad school I took it a lot more seriously as I knew it was the key to my future.

In this day and age College sucks! Go to trade school and learn a craft that will be needed and can't be replaced by AI. Plumbers, electricians, HVAC is the future. 2 years ago when I had the Radon mitigation guys come in to do my basement it was a weekend and they said they were booked constantly.
for the past eight years my design focus has been exactly for spaces such as that

No! That's only for *burrowing* animals. Play it as it lies.
Two strokes for trying to pull a fast one.
Well, serious rupture in a 50+ year friendship, and I bet nobody can guess what the subject was!!!
Spoiler
Hitler was mentioned in one of the final text exchanges.
Oh, itβs Trump, of course. Superduper grunch, I apparently have not wanted himβ¦umβ¦rendered politically inert immediately & permanently for long enough, nor wanted a certain event prior to the 2024 election to have had a slightly different outcome for the right reasons, though we both in fact at the time wanted that slightly different outcome.
We also strongly disagree about his first three years in office as well as any positive reassessment of Dubyaβs eight years in office, and we both badly underestimated how strongly the other felt on those issues.
Apparently I must now answer detailed questions regarding all of the above. I refusedβwisely not adding that Iβm glad our mothers arenβt alive to see thisβand blocked him, but not before he brought up Hitler (and Paul Pelosi???), and I brought up Halliburton.
Obviously thereβs much much more; other stuff involves our Class of β83 group; heβd tell it all a lot differently and not be wrong. FWIW some in that ghostly, far-flung, long lost group seem to lean his way, some mine, some dgaf, some dwhi. Putting the band back together, or even starting a message group, after 40 years, can be fraught these days.
Very sad, but Iβm a VERY old 60, and havenβt the energy or resources left to care let alone try to do much else about it. That said, Iβll unblock him, itβs been a week, and see what happens. Likely nothing based on incidents with him & othersβsome quite justified imo.
Meet the new drought, same as the old drought. Never change, SLC, never change.

The top photo is from a street where last month they spent a couple weeks replacing half the sprinklers on the block. Hard to see in the bottom photo but there are little waves of water running down the driveway. That whole corner might be the dirtiest 7-11 in Utah. Fits the clientele. Literally half the stuff theyβre watering is concrete, asphalt, rocks & mud, and they water it frequently. Canβt imagine the owner makes enough just autopay the bill blindly like Chip Reese.
Who is replacing the sprinklers?
BTW, my cousin lives in SLC. I visited him a few years ago, maybe more than a few, and he took me to a gift store that sells Mormon Tabernacle shot glasses. Apparently, that's sacrilegious.
I have a couple friends who have drifted to the right the last few years. Drifted but not stepped over the line, so they didn't vote for Trump. Another friend, a Trump voter, has now completely turned against Trump.
Even though I don't agree with them, we don't get into it much. I mean we've known each other since high school, so we have a pretty good idea what idiots we can all be. Well, except me. I'm perfect.

Don't they always run water in the gutters of SLC for to clean them? Or was that long long ago in the yesteryear?

Not on any regular basis in decades that iβm aware of. The broken sprinklers around are just incredible. Some have to be doubling the monthly bill at a minimum. This geyser ran for months.

I am ignorant? What the hell is SLC????????????
It's a city, built near a lake known for it's salinity.
It's almost as if we shouldn't have non-native grass lawns in semi-arid climates.
I've noticed urban campers are coming out. In my corner of suburbia, there's a lot of strip malls. So, people will park RVs/pop-up campers in the parking lots and stay a while.
I'm not sure what the businesses think of that, but to me, they don't seem to be doing any harm. They'll pick spots out on the edge of the lot. I imagine they spend money at the places where they're parked.
I live in an area where "utes" and "yous" are common. I've grown used to it.

What's up, Guys?
Here's what's happening in Dom World lately:
The semester is over and grades are in!
Went to see Wet Leg in concert.
Chopped heads up a Venetian Deepstack tourney for over $16k.
Gonna play the seniors event at the WSOP in a few weeks.
Gonna go see Human League, Soft Cell, and Alison Moyet in a couple weeks.
Bought a new set of Mizuno JPX 925 forged irons (thank, you, poker winnings!)
That's about it.
