There wasn’t any serious resistance to covid measures.

Any government powerful enough to give their people everything they need is powerful enough take away everything their people need.

After a bit of reflection ..... substitute the words "fossil fuel use" for the words "any government" and you get the following .....

Fossil fuel use powerful enough to give people everything they need is powerful enough take away everything people need

Sigh. Then amplify wonders why I nitpick about basic logical inference.

You're free to make an attempt at logic. Never too late to start.

That is what is scary

Well no, because you said covid proved the government had the ability to take away everything people need, but I mean first of all people still had everything they β€œneed”, but secondly if enough people actually cared to fight it I doubt the measures would have stayed in place.

I'm curious what people think "resistance to Covid measures" might have looked like.

Well here in Canada we had a bunch of truckers drive their rigs up to parliament in protest. It led to the PM invoking Martial law and seizing the bank accounts of the truckers and anyone that donated to them. Later the supreme court did rule the PM did not have the right to do it but the damage was done .

The only other resistance I can think of was refusing the shot which led to job loss , no travel......

If carpenters are powerful enough to build houses, they are obviously powerful enough to destroy them.

The only reasonable option is to ban carpentry, lest we become bereft of houses.

I agree with this IF AND ONLY IF the government has full authority over carpenters.

Current governments are already powerful enough to take away everything people need. Every effective government has that power. The only alternative is anarchy and that never works.

Given that our government has access to virtually an unlimited amount of $$$ by way of the Income Tax and fiat currency, I think you're right.

Abolish the IRS!

Repeal the 16th Amendment!

BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!!

That's why it's important for the citizenry to be armed to-the-teeth!

by lozen m

Covid proved that

Some of Newsom's more draconian measures were struck down by the courts. The government had to pay millions for their gross overreach.

I agree! That's why overdependence on fossil fuels is a bad idea.

The BLM rioters were in close quarters for days at a time in some cases, but I don't recall many of them dropping dead from COVID for some reason.

Maybe burning down buildings also burned up the virus, but who knows?

Are you an anarchist ?

See if you can find a reason in this photo.

Are you an anarchist ?

No.

I don't claim to be a history expert, but iirc we had a functioning federal government prior to 1915.

Would you like me to post some photos of mostly unmasked protestors?

Just say the word, my friend!

by geezerchess m

BLM rioters

protestors

Rioters, remember? Your ideological mask slipped for a moment. You must always use the dehumanizing language given you by propaganda.

I hold firmly to the principle of Two Things Can be True at the Same Time (TM Pending).

The vast majority were 'protestors', and handful were 'rioters.' ( Just like on 1/6/21, to take a totally random example.)

Back on point (which you ignored, ofc):

The reason very few protestors/rioters didn't drop dead from Covid is that it was almost exclusively olds and folks who were already immune-compromised who dropped dead from covid. Not exactly the rioter/protestor demographic.

I appreciate you taking the bait, though. πŸ˜€

A+ on the double-pun!

No.

I don't claim to be a history expert, but iirc we had a functioning federal government prior to 1915.

We had a well-funded government with a Treasury Dept prior to 1915. We had a population with life expectancy approaching 40 years old at the nation's founding and we have legalized slavery. We didn't have public sanitation and people died from a great variety of diseases which have largely been eliminated.

Do you wish to go undo Social Security & Medicare ? Go back to 19th century norms.

I know. That was my point. There was no federal income tax until 1915.

All of those things you listed were already getting better and better before 1915.

I suspect stuff like Social Security and Medicare will undo itself when our country goes bankrupt in the near future. (10 years or so)

Youth is the main reason. The masks are utterly worthless
