Donald J. Trump (For everyone else except Victor)

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

How did everyone ITT celebrate gulf of America day?

I watched this on a continuous loop for four hours while drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon beer. None of that Heineken crap.

Kinda funny to think this was supposed to give him heel heat and 20 years later it’d be a face turn like no other.

But that's not the case. You'd have to be surrounded by mostly like-minded people or live on social media to think that. Most Trump supporters are run-of-the-mill conservatives. We just amplify the more sensational types. They're a growing minority, for sure, but not an accurate representation of most people.

this 100%

by nature, those who want to discuss politics online in their free time on a poker message board are not going to be representative of a typical supporter

it's the epitome of self selected sample bias

On my walk yesterday, I spotted a "Live Free or Die" sticker on a truck and it occurred to me how monumentally ironic this is. The very same people that have been screaming freedom as long as I've been alive don't actually want it.

Make corruption great again!

In 2008, federal prosecutors accused Blagojevich of turning Illinois' government into a moneymaking operation for himself by trying to, among other things, shake down a children's hospital and racetrack owners. When prosecutors charged Blagojevich with corruption over the Senate seat, they presented as evidence a profanity-filled telephone conversation he had that was secretly recorded by the FBI.

"I mean, I've got this thing, and it's [expletive] golden. And I'm just not giving it up for [expletive] nothing," Blagojevich said.

well then change it so you can get rid of pennys.... It needs to be even. or skip straight to rounding to the nearest .10

Canadas already getting rid of the nickel and you losers have PENNIES. come on this is 2025 inflation is 10x since you were born

A penny is even. 0.010 is just as even as 0.10 is.

But the point is if you make 0.10 the number to round to, then $11.24 becomes $11.30. That's corporate America; no way will it be rounded to $11.20 when it's so easy to steal some pennies instead.

Anyway, I'm not really seeing the point. Like only 10% of people use cash as much as possible - poor people, tax evaders, and Dave Ramsey cult boomers. If you're in the latter two, then just walk off and don't take your change since it bothers you.

Things nowhere near my list of things to care about one way or the other.

1) Pennies

If Biden said get rid of pennies, libtards would think best idea ever, maga would say dumb.

Of course thoughts reversed depending on which cult says it.

America is ******ed.

trump's second term feels more like restarting a game at a save point after losing. it's his first term, played again, and now he knows where all the bosses are waiting and how to exploit their weaknesses. much worse for democrats than if he'd won in 2020.

Literally no one said pennies shouldn't be taken out of circulation. Some just think the, "Uh, my life is too hard having to deal with pennies in my pocket" is a ******ed reason.

Do you think choosing where to round will be an option?

This is pretty much the same as the argument with DOGE. Nobody I've ever known doesn't think there's a tremendous amount of waste in the federal government. And a ton of fraud. The magtards think we are against cutting out fat. We aren't. What we are against is a renegade sociopath and his band of 20something racist hackers getting a hold of our personal information and holding social security, medicare, and medicaid hostage.

By whom?

I think sales tax will round properly because it's too easy to spot the theft.

By states. It's a clear cut topic where states have jurisdictions (and possibly localities , in the states that allow for that), same as the rules for price transparency during discounts and so on

what's the basis for this fear?

So if I sell a product wholesale for 20% above my cost (which retailers do not know it's 20% above) and my cost per unit is $19.85 and I sell it for $23.85 instead of $23.80 where it properly rounds to, the state in which the retailer is located in is going to do what again and for what reason?

You can sell for whatever you want (within limits, if they exist, based on other laws). You are already charging the very maximum you think you can (or the price you think maximizes your profits over the supply/demand curve) at any point in time, is your claim that you are selling at 23.82 and not 23.85 because the latter would decrease sales?

We are talking rounding of the final price at the cashier after you sum up all the items.

In Italy for example places are allowed to discontinue use of 1 cent and 2 cent coins in the register, but the final cashier amount has to be rounding to the nearest 0 or 5 by law.

Any american state can pass similar laws.

The best people

"Do you now plead guilty to count 5, scheme to defraud?" the court clerk asked. "Yes," Bannon responded.

No weaponization here. No siree.

Bannon said after the hearing that he would call on new Attorney General Pam Bondi to prosecute New York Attorney General Letitia James and investigate Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg, both of whom brought successful cases against Trump.

He agreed to the plea deal to avoid jail. I'm sure a lot of people would do that if given the choice.

You are calling a pricing decision theft?

by coordi k

Trump is a bully and likes to pick on targets he perceives as weak and then his followers like to get on social media and forums and revel in his bullying but they resort to these "why are you being mean to me?" tactics when they are bullied back

So as a new mod, you are OK with posters insulting other posters because of who they support. That's good to know,

by Didace k

You are calling a pricing decision theft?

Nope. A corporation can charge whatever they want. The point is they're always going to round up. That equals a higher price for the consumer. But I don't give a **** - I'm not part of the group crying about the price of groceries and gas.

Trump hints "we could do that" when asked to shut down the IRS.

He trolled the new IRS hires that are allowed to carry guns, saying "we're moving them to protect the border, since they already have guns".

IMO there's over an 80% chance the IRS will be dissolved in lieu of a 14% GST.
