I'd say less than the world has convinced them than they've convinced themselves. The liberal ideal would be that both sides recognize the reality of the situation and make peace, but the opinions of the people on the ground are not close to that. Palestinians think that Israel is somehow going away, though violence or otherwise, and Israelis think the same of Palestinians.

both sides are clear eyed about the situation. its the liberals who are either ignorant or duplicitous.

Palestinians know that if they want to survive then their only option is to fight with all means at their disposal. Israelis know that their ideology necessitates the complete annihilation of millions of people.

So if the Israeli hostages were released and Hamas was kicked out of Gaza what do you think would happen.

I am guessing there would be peace and the international community would come in and start rebuilding.

It is bizarre how progressives and islamists have created This fantasy reality where Hamas committing 10/7 and holding Israeli hostages in tunnels in terribly deprived conditions 1.5 yrs later is not the actual problem that should be addressed. They have created this alternate reality where none of that really happened at all, much less should be addressed.

If that happens I hope Hamas reorganises itself in its new home, forges new alliances and blasts the **** out of the IDF. They'll certainly gain a lot of new supporters, such as me.
