February 18 – The first day clubs can designate franchise or transition players.
February 24-March 3 –
He sounds like he'll fit right in. Intentionally.
I'm not sure that is what they needed. Must have been an interesting selection process.
Eagles get Zack Baun back for 3/51 (34 gtd).
Boy, it's fun to be a fan of a team that recognized his All-Pro potential enough to trade up for him, but had a loser defensive coach who couldn't figure out how to use him.

It’s gonna be a fun few days for you to see what Mickey does to continue to **** the franchise for years to come.
I quite like the Thuney trade for both sides.
Bears absolutely needed to get better quickly to help Caleb and the price isn't huge from a draft pov. They have a lot of cap space and he will hopefully bring in habits etc that improve the team and help developing guys around him. He can still play and his pass blocking in particular remains elite, which is what they absolutely need in Chicago
Chiefs get something for him when he has 1yr left on his deal and they're probably not extending him, when he has definitely peaked and is almost certainly on the way down.
And they get cap relief...albeit it looks (although it's a little unclear) that they don't save that much given they're carrying $10mm dead money.
It'll be interesting to see if the Bears are going to extend him and if so, how much they pay him which might change my opinion
Suzzer....do you know much about who will replace him on the line?

We're just one player away! And the guy picking that player is most notable for signing checks for Sean Payton and thought Dennis Allen was a "Hall of Fame talent" at head coach.
First offer for Purdy apparently $45m per, they might go full Cousins
Rodgers to Vegas would be nothing. Vegas is going to suck next year and won't be good for at least a few more years.
Why any team would actually want Rodgers at this point is baffling, but it should tell you something that mostly bad teams seem to be most interested.
I think rodgers is an absolutely cooked ballgargler who is far too focused on being a tv personality to be taken seriously even if he weren’t 45 and overrated
Having said that, I think the Rodgers stuff is if anything an indictment on ward and subprime. There simply isn’t a gamebreaker readily available and Rodgers is at best a transitional qb who lasts 2 seasons. For shitty teams who need a splash he’s a viable option cuz wtf else are you gonna do
Fully expect this to end with Rodgers to the giants and Darnold to the raiders

Sounds like Kingsley Suamataia (2024 2nd round pick that they started at LT for 1.5 games to start the season) might play left guard.
On one hand this is annoying but tolerable
Then I read 'both sides are far apart'
Now I'm sad again
Someone needs to sit him down and be brutally honest with him. Explain that his production took a big hit this past season when he didn't have as much talent around him. He's not an alpha, and paying him top of market is going to prevent them from building a strong team.
You know, basically the stuff I wish Miami had told Tua.

it's great to tell him that. but then they still have to pay him $50m per because they don't have an alternative and they'll lose their job without him
Joey Bosa released huh

Ok, then he'll go and sign for $55m+ elsewhere once 49ers franchise him twice. It's incredible that this conversation happens every time a non-top 5 QB signs a new deal

Lol seriously...
If anyone signs old-a** cancer Fraudgers for any kind of a significant $$$ contract over drafting either those QB's.....they should be put to death for stupidity.
Ward and "Subprime" have higher ceilings going forward for the $$$ literally right now.

Players deserve to get paid, but they don't deserve to get paid top of the market just because they're the "next man up."
It's only going to hurt the 9ers if they give in and pay him top dollar. But they already know this which is why they haven't reached a deal yet. Doesn't mean they won't give in like most teams do though and eventually pay him.
Deserve got nothin' to do with it, it's his time that's all.
I'm not saying any player deserves what they get, I'm just saying either he'll get ~$55m per, or it'll be Cousins 2.0. We're not even accounting for the cap increasing 25% over the last two years
The cap increasing shouldn't mean you HAVE to pay someone top of the market. You're allowed to use the money on other players.

is it really tho

Purdy has all the leverage. What else is San Francisco going to do if they don't pay him? You decided he was your franchise guy, you decided to trade one of his receivers and might be trading the other... How is that gonna work out if you let your QB go too?
"We believe in you as the long term franchise guy, but we still want to skimp on $5-10 million a year" isn't a very effective negotiating tactic.
What are they going to do if they don't pay him?
Tag him, trade him, or just move on and draft another QB or get someone in free agency. Maybe they're really bad for a year or two, but it's better than capping your ceiling by overpaying for average talent.
