There isn't going to be WWIII unless China gets involved, which I dont think is going to happen. I cant really articulate why it seems this way, but it really seems like things are lining up where the West will give up Tawain, and in return China will stop propping up the IRI (where it gets assurances it will have access to purchase energy from whoever takes the IRI's place).

china could join long after it starts. WW1/2 started in 1914 and 1939 USA wasn't involved

China could easily join. Doesn't have to be Taiwan or Iran, could be moves in the south china sea or if we want a really stonking world war, a meltdown with India.

Way too early to call it now. Only G20 country directly involved is Russia

I can think of some other places that had gates too, and they didn't have swimming pools either.

I’m curious what you think the origin of the conflict is since you seem convinced it didn’t start with Hez joining in with Hamas in a completely unforced error.

'completely unforced error' brings to mind an unnecessarily showboating drop-shot hitting the net

this was a choice which quickly led to the complete eradication of the individual decision makers, the near total devastation of their closest associates, and which set in motion the inevitable collapse of their entire organisation

i'd go instead with with 'serious faux pas'

The Democratic Federation of Northern and Eastern Syria didn't do anything, but the PKK attacked a defense contractor (Turkish Aerospace Industries) in Turkey.

I don’t know much about the PKK. But why on earth would they do stuff like that? Terrorist attacks prevent the Kurds from getting a state.

Seems highly unlikely that China would directly challenge the US if ww3 broke out. Years of projecting power from Russia and Iran have gone up in flames recently and it’s clear that they would be severely outmatched against the US and its allies. I can’t imagine China has any appetite for war with the US and in the event, they would probably want to be on the side with a clear advantage.

Netflix

about Palestinians. Mustn't humanize them.

"We are facing what could amount to atrocity crimes, including potentially extending to crimes against humanity.”

Pretty easy to commit crimes against humanity if you consider Palestinians to be sub-human I guess.

what places?

I think he's talking about the gated communities with private country clubs.

From your link::

“This erasure of Palestinian voices by Netflix follows many ugly decades of suppression of Palestinian viewpoints.”

"From the River to the Sea" with its genocidal connotations and rejection of Israel's right to exist, is a pretty odious viewpoint. Wouldn't you agree Bill?
Maybe Netflix don't wish to be associated with genocidal connotations and rejection of the world's one Jewish state?

What are you talking about? The Intercept listed the 24 films and that wasn't one of them. You haven't proved even one of the 24 is genocidal.

There's a Kurdish majority state in what used to be Northern Iraq and one of sorts in Northern Syria. Turkey does not seem like it's on the road to anything but trying to erase Kurdishness inside Turkey. I'm not saying the PKK has the perfect strategy, but as long as Turkey is banning Kurdish and destroying Kurdish towns there's going to be what some people itt would call "resistance".

Sometimes the "terrorists" win. Dump some tea in the harbor and you're a terrorist. Win the revolution and you're independent. Sometimes things kinda work out without anything like a total war like the IRA/Ireland or DNC/South Africa. Or maybe it's hopeless for the PKK and they should be trying to get public sympathy like the Zapatistas.

Iran declared war on the United States and UK when they had free elections and voted in someone who was going to keep too much of the money from Iranian oil in Iran.

free elections?

when did that happened and why weren't the Iranians informed?

1950

(that was a parliamentary election or something with the public elections in 1949 - something like that)

1951

yeah, sorry, I thought you were talking about the IRI.

this answer is the essence of your entire world view and position.

at a court of law one will say - I rest my case

it was no less free than any Western or esp any Western proxy election. and I mean, the hardline insider didnt even win so I dont even know what you would complain about.

do you know anything about Iranian elections?

without googling, please explain who can run for president?

who cares? when the West gets free elections then it can talk some ****.

Victor, you do prove yourself once again to be completely without basic knowledge on issues you debate.

i would love to have your self confidence...

I'm not saying the films themselves are, but considering Palestinians' very publicly expressed desire for a Palestinian state stretching "From the River to the Sea", then maybe Netflix simply want no truck with such things.

Seems quite racist to condemn films made by Palestinians on the grounds that they might promote a specific political dogma without at least googling them first, almost as if Palestinians don't have the individual agency you grant to other human beings.

You’re shocked that someone expressing unhinged bigotry didn’t bother to know the facts? Those moves are no longer there because Netflix bought the rights to show them for a certain period and that time ran out. Happens all the time.
