Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
Which food is commonly eaten in Gaza that people in Suez would consider alien?
Which language is commonly spoken in Gaza that people in port Said would not understand a word of?
Which gods/deities/spirits are worshipped in Gaza that people in Cairo would find alien and utterly repellant?
Which genetic markers are common among people in Gaza born from gazebo parents and very rare/non existent among people in Cairo?
None. None. None
It's the same people
Members of the same population, same heritage, same culture, same race, same religion.
Same people, indistinguishable from each other, you can't have ethnic cleansing unless a distinct ethnic group deports another.
As was clearly explained before, here we go....

Not that there will be any ethnic cleansing.
Are you a victim of ethnic cleansing? Do you have some blood memory where you and your heirs must eternally fight to return to whatever part of Europe they are from and displace whoever is there now?
Of course not.
Human history is mostly one long chain of humans moving around under various forms of duress. And getting on with living. This includes literally millions of people moving around every year.
The entire “ethnic cleansing” argument is a completely bad faith one singularly employed for this one conflict. And it is to the detriment of to Palestinian people, who cynical progressive westerners and iSlamists will never let move on and live.
Unfortunately the definition of ethnic cleansing requires mass expulsion, but by members of different ethnicities.
If egyptians are complicit it can't be ethnic cleansing because gazeans and northeastern egyptians are ethnically, culturally, religiously, genetically indistinguishable. They are the same people.
Egypt is unlikely to co-operate, and so is Jordan.

You've just destroyed the entire rationale for Zionism, which is possibly not what you intended.
People are conditioned. They believe what they are conditioned to believe.
No American is conditioned to think the call of blood or God is calling them to reconquer Europe.
Palestinians have been subject to 80+ years of malign programming to make them have absurd beliefs counterproductive to any reasonable resolution.
Seemingly the helicopter video was actually shot a day later in Gaza.
And the cited Israeli police report didn't actually mention any friendly-fire casualties from air assets on Oct 7. While this may have happened, we don't know and the supposed video doesn't apply.

I was talking about the Israelis who seem to think they are owed the Levant

well in that case there will be no moving around of residents in gaza

I don’t personally really care about Zionism.
I think Israel should exist because it does exist, and has for 80 years. If history had turned out differently I would not be arguing the Jewish people today should conquer the Levant and re-establish Israel.
And the rest of the world should get over their grievances and political opportunism and make peace. Or not; and there will be war and the Palestinians will continue to suffer to no productive outcome.
Ok. It is an argument very selectively applied for cynical political reasons.
No one is making this argument for any number of the other conflicts going on right now causing massive displacement of people who are much more native to their land than Arab Palestinians are to Israel.
I find it especially perverse how many people who are so outraged at Israel’s history are so indifferent, if not supportive, of Turkeys actions the last 100 years; which has been much worse by any metric you could come up with.
The outrage really is all bad faith.
Palestinians reconquering Israel is as absurd a notion as ethnic Christian populations retaking Constantinople. And should be treated as such by the world. And then Palestinians can move on and won’t be stuck in such a destructive cycle of destructive foolishness.

I'd say if Israel cannot figure out how update the Palestinian software as you'd say they're absolutely doomed. A tiny minority surrounded by enemies and as Chez has harped on, with drones and modern warfare, deadly and accurate weapons only become cheaper and more accessible. There is nothing but militarization and PTSD in Israel's foreseeable future. Another 100 years or so would still be quite a respectable run overall but if the Palestinians and their buddies stay committed to their jihad, hard to see it ending any other way than Israel's eventual demise.

Israel is a nuclear power with an estimated 90 nuclear weapons. And when push comes to shove Israel doesn’t have to go to great lengths to avoid civilian casualties like it does. It could destroy entire Arab cities with millions of inhabitants with conventional weapons if it chose.
So your scenario only happens if Israel decides to let it happen.
Of course Palestinian Islamists and their allies are religious nut job psychopaths who probably would decide to test Israel’s resolve this way.
But one can hope cooler heads will eventually prevail and the Arab world can continue to move on from psychotic religous extremism and we never find out.

Yes, I did mean to note short of an actual complete genocide, if Palestine stays on their course Israel has big problems.

Well, the Palestinian objective is actual genocide. And if it comes to it, Israel isn’t under any obligation to just let it happen.
But I am hopeful the world will come to some semblance of sanity at some point and stop enabling such a toxic situation.
Trump for his part seems to be the only sane person right now. Maybe someone else will jump on board eventually.
Well, the Palestinian objective is actual genocide.
using a fake genocide to justify a real genocide.
I mean we don’t necessarily have to exactly follow trumps vision. But the rest of the world seems to just want to go back to the 10/6 status quo, and run it back in 10 years. Which seems like a bad idea.
