Now it's being proposed that the shooter is a follower of Nick Fuentes, a rival of Kirk who thinks that he wasn't extreme enough.

It was one of the obvious options from the beginning. A lot of trumpers seem to be completely unaware of that deep fracture in the ranks. Another one of the obv but not mentioned was centrist/no-affiliation/both sides people of which there are many. Maybe not as likely to shoot but still. The right was running so wild so quickly there was little point in even really getting involved until some more info came.

In other news, competely lost in the Charlie Kirk hubbub a Cuban illegal who has been arrested numerous times for some fairly serious violent crimes including but not limited to child sex abuse, grand theft of a motor vehicle, false imprisonment and carjacking, literally just murdered and beheaded a man in Dallas in front of the man's family. And then threw the head in a dumpster.

There is actual video evidence floating around social media of the murderer chasing the man down, beheading him with a machete and then walking off with the head.

Apparently ICE actually tried to deport him back to Cuba in January, but Cuba was like "**** that, this guys is too violent," and apparently we are Cuba's bitch so we do what they say; so instead the US Justice system decided to just release him onto the street.

Of course confusing the whole issue on top of this happening during the Charlie Kirk story the man who was beheaded is Indian, and the right wing is on an anti Indian bent right now. So they dont appear too interested in this story at the moment; and the left is never interested in any story highlighting when the violent criminals they allow onto the streets commit murder and mayhem.

So looks like this one is just going to fall through the cracks.

Never before in history anything remotely like this had happened. This is actual unprecedented in human history (non working elders having this high of a resource access)

Very important part of why working age people feel squeezed a lot

The kids a confused mess of extreme ideas that probably don’t mesh together very well. He’s the product of a police and gun obsessed family, and social media has driven him even more nuts.

btw that he ended up in unsearchable, unmoderated, obscure discord corners is the automatic consequence that i tried to tell you guys about of having censorship on main social media.

That will make monitoring, infiltrating and anticipating extremism 1000x harder in the future but you all feel "safer" because the real evil people takes aren't visible to you.

I think it's a disastrous mistake

Next time a violent perpetrator has a trans family member don't be surprised if the right calls that the cause of his violence, and you would have no counter because you have similarly absurd takes like this.

meanwhile, talking of discord, in Nepal

/

Discord has practically become a temporary parliament in Nepal, after the government was overthrown.

Discord server has been visited by over 100,000 people, and political debates, nominations, and voting take place there.

For example, the community voted for former Supreme Court Chief Justice as a possible interim leader of the country.

The falsest of false equivalences. What with this and your guns = cars theory you're really in top form today.

btw why do you keep avoiding my question about whether nth generation immigrants should be described as immigrants?

I answered n times: at some point you stop being an immigrant, when you have 3+ grandparents born as citizens of the country

That’s your definition of an immigrant. It’s not anyone else’s. Try speaking the same language as everyone else.

A lot of people i talk with (literally every non leftist italian) , will never consider a non italian looking person italian ever no matter what. Like you have an eastern asian face you will be an immigrant and your children and grandchildren be forever and you will never be an italian, like a horse can never be a dog no matter where he lives or he is born.

The same is true in many other european countries.

So you should try to understand that my take is *already progressive* in many places. Even being open to the possibility that you can "escape" ethnicity with immigrant ancestors is being progressive. The old world isn't the new world.

The fact that you pretend not to know how widespread that approach is, is weird btw. You are from the UK not the USA. You know how many people don't consider a black son of 2 black refugees anything other than an immigrant. You hate those people but you know they exist and they are legion.

Meanwhile the Doge foundation just bought an italian football club (a minor one, Triestina, Serie C)

Then your country is full of racist ****s like you, isn't it?

**** off with this horses and dogs bullshite, which are two separate species.

Really can't imagine which of Italians and Asians you consider the horses and which the dogs.

I used horses and dogs because they are both nice species universally liked ffs.

Yes you can call people like us racist and under some definition of racism that might be correct (not mine ofc), i don't give a **** lol.

But you can't deny what you call "racists" use immigrant like i do, which you did.

Btw a Mercedes never becomes a "british car" no matter how long it stays in the UK either. Even if Mercedes had a factory there!

Maybe not proved but def some stuff that leans towards the fuentes contingent.

You certainly are a champion of the inept analogy today, aren't you? First we had cars are like guns, now we have cars are like people. It's this constantly low brow view of people as less than human that marks you out as a fascist. Once you've convinced yourself that they are less than human it's easy to advocate for whipping or shooting them, isn't it?

Do you consider Jannik Sinner Italian?

Maybe your boomer brain isn't plastic enough to entertain inter categorical analogies.

But there is nothing strange in using tools that advance human goals that occasionally cause the death of people (car) and compare them to tools that advance human goals and occasionaly cause the death of people (guns).

They are strikingly similar actually. Your opposition to the analogy is that it works perfectly well to explicitly find you in cognitive dissonance.

You can't be in favour of something that has proper uses that sometimes is used badly and kill people, unless you are in favor of everything that has proper human uses that can occasionally kill people.

And that's why you get angry at it. You get exposed in your dissonance. You simply PERSONALLY don't find good uses for guns, so you disregrad the benefits every other person who does have, and you claim "guns are nothing like cars".

They are both tools, which millions of people find useful for their own personal goals, that very occasionally kill other people against their will.

Now we have cars like people yes, for the use of BRITISH as a descriptor. It's the same. Something is either british or not. And it's insane to use wildly different rules to categorize something as british depending if that's a person or not. It's actually proof that the attempt to use people descriptors properly is *being hijckaded violently* by people like you.

Because it's intuitive, immediate, obvious that a car made by a german company with german engineering and culture behind it stays german even if it is in the UK, even if it's made in the UK by a german factory, even if british people use it!

And the same is true for anything to which BRITISH can be applied, including PEOPLE! it's only because of a radical, absurd vision of "inclusivity" that "britishness" can magically transfer to people just by moving, while that's not the case for anything else.

An italian song in a british smarthphone listened to in a british tube , stays an italian song! forever, no matter how many times you listen to it or who listens to it! italian food, same, or at least it requires centuries in the UK to become british.

And yet a person born in the UK with parents, ancestors, genes and cultures from Rwanda, becomes "british" , not only in the legal sense, but in the common speech sense? lol no he doesn't. He stays rwandan, and as a rwandan in the UK, he is an immigrant there.

And food is more important (A lot more important) than a single person could ever be.

/

Now as for Sinner, we got the Bolzano province (the german speaking small piece of alps where he is from) in 1920. Both his parents are from there so if you remember my labeling, 2 parents born italian = italian. Very high chance his 4 grandparents were from there as well (given no one sane of mind emigrated to that area until very recently, it was incredibly poor and so on).

A better question would have been "do you consider Jacobs italian" (100m winner in the Tokyo olympic games), italian mother and texan father, and the answer is the easiest ever: he is HALF ITALIAN!

Half. No more no less.

Like Obama is half american.

It's hardly absurd to think that a gun-obsessed family would have a kid who was inspired to use a gun to do the single task it was made for.

I don't know if this family was actually obsessed with guns though.

Hmm. The Mini is, as everyone knows, a British car, made in Britain. Except the firm is now owned by BMW of Germany, as is the Rolls-Royce brand for cars -- the real Rolls-Royce of course makes jet engines and licenses its name for cars, and the former Rolls-Royce Motors, spun off from the original company in 1971, is now called Bentley Motors and owned by Volkswagen. The RR rights were sold off and BMW had to start a new company from scratch under that name.

The first new-model BMW Mini of the year 2000 was designed, very cleverly, in an enlarged update of the original car's style, by an American. The original car of 1959 was designed, like the very British Morris Minor, by Alec Issigonis -- who came to Britain as a Smyrna Greek child immigrant. But Issigonis's father had taken British citizenship in youth while studying in London, so the family's refugee immigration to Britain during the Greco-Turkish war of 1922, which saw Smyrna taken by Turkey, was fairly uncomplicated. Oddly enough, Issigonis's mother was of German ancestry from Wurttemburg, so that Issigonis was a first cousin once removed of Bernd Pischetsrieder, the BMW chief who bought the Rover group and commissioned the new-model Mini.

The original Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost of 1907, AX 201, owned by Bentley until 2020 and now in a private collection, has been called 'the most famous car in the world'. But that title has also been claimed for the Aston Martin DB5, BMT 216A, which appeared in Goldfinger. What could be more British than Sean Connery, in tweed hacking jacket, cavalry-twill trousers and desert boots, at the wheel of an Aston Martin? But of course the car's bodywork was designed by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan. As was that of the fabled Jensen Interceptor, a distinctive British GT but with an Italian body and Canadian-built American engine. Aston Martins now use customised Mercedes-Benz engines.

Cross-fertilisation. Both genetically and culturally, it adds strength and variety and it kind of works.
