Lhude sing Goddamm,
Raineth drop and staineth slop
And how the wind doth ramm!
Sing: Goddamm."

Preparing for an East Coast blizzard tomorrow night into possibly Tuesday morning. Preparing for me means having enough food and coffee for a couple days without leaving the house.

So far this winter we have had more snow in one storm than in the last five years I've lived here.

I am happy I now have a garage for the first time in my life.

Do you have to prepare for the eventuality that you lose power? Cell phone service?

I just started on a diet. Wholewheat pasta, less olive oil, and no cheese isn't so bad after all.

Some decades ago, I escaped the winter hellhole I grew up in, in northern Wisconsin. Really don't understand how/why you guys stay with it.

I don't really need to prepare much. But with 70mph wind gusts and heavy snow, it's pretty certain power will be out.

Have a power bank to charge phone, but I can manage without one. But I could trudge over to work about five minutes away. I'm pretty sure the college has a generator.

I know things don't look good because the ex-girlfriend is checking on me. [emoji16]

Yeah, heard the forecast today. Cold, 1-2' of snow, and howling winds from MD to NH.

Good luck, John and all others in the area. Stay safe and warm.

Wind gusts hitting 60 mph here. Probably get over two feet of snow around here.

27 inches where I live. No power since 11:00 this morning. Some parts of RI over three feet of snow.

and imagine the parts three feet under!

expect to measure a quarter foot when the rain week ends
still no valley snow worthy of recording but plenty up the hill near govy camp as the most recent storm blew past

Please move all that snow to the Wasatch mountains, stat, thank you!

Tuesday night—I told you it never stops here: The next morning, first snow of winter.

Test

Edit: Hmm, accidentally created a poem.

I put on a long sleeve t-shirt when i walked to the store yesterday. I didn't want to chance frostbite.

Hopefully it doesn't warm up too fast, so the melt floods things.

Went without power for about 14 hours yesterday. Not bad because house stayed fairly warm.

Storm would have been much worse if it happened during the day since people would have been at work and out driving.

In other news, I just discovered there's a city in Texas named Cut and Shoot. Seems the name came from a kid who said he was going to cut around the corner and shoot through the bushes.

The man who put C&S TX on the map. I guess he & it were so cool that no pro wrestler who wasn’t from there ever claimed to be.

Those are some skinny heavyweights

indeed they were
interesting seeing how Cus' tuck duck and uppercut started with Patterson and eventually peaked with Tyson

Patterson won the gold medal in the middleweight division. Ali won in the light heavyweight division, later tried to quietly sneak it up to heavyweight after Frazier & Foreman’s wins there and Joe cut him right off at the knees.

Young Cassius 1960 fighting Michael Spinks 1976 woulda been something.

The muscle & bone mass Ali put on between his 19th & 22nd birthdays is extraordinary. I watched the first Liston fight last night and Ali looks about 25-26.

Liston looks not a day over 40, exactly like a well paid excon mob enforcer. One of the most mysterious & tragic figures in a profession full of them. Only his mother, wife, and Joe Louis really knew him, and one can only speculate on what he might’ve kept from them. He was literally asked once how he got those scars (on his shoulders) and he replied, “I had bad dealings with my father.”

I remember watching the Clay/Liston fight. I must be getting old.

Where I used to live in Mansfield, MA, ex Patriots quarterback, Steve Grogan, owns the Grogan Marciano Sports Store. Used to run into Steve every so often because his son lived in the condo above me. Never met Rocky though.

my Dad used to take me to restaurants in NYC owned by Jack Dempsey and Yogi Berra. There's a picture of me sitting on Demspey's lap floating around somewhere. And Yogi would toss a ball with me when I'd come in with a mitt lol. Yogi was the best...I don't really remember Dempsey, tho.

John, I remember Ali-Frazier I. That's probably the first fight I remember watching.

Dom,

I can't remember what streaming service it is on, but I saw a great documentary about Yogi about a year ago. He was quite the guy besides being one of the greatest players of all time.

There's a Yogi Berra Museum in NJ, and people interviewed in the doc loved him as a person not just as a ballplayer.

Of course he's known for his quotes but, obviously, he was so much more
