MuckPls vs Vegas - 04/12-04/29
Guess who’s back, back again!
Figured I’d get the ball rolling as it’s less than 3 weeks for my next trip. Like the last
Nice comeback-hoping it continues through the rest of your trip!
I’m also not a snake person-would want a flame thrower if it was getting that close!
Moar critters !!
Would love to get out to red rocks when I come back in June.
I have approximately 2000 pictures from today I need to sort through, including pelicans, coyotes, vultures, osprey, and hundreds of other stuff. But it will have to wait until I am back in Malta because they are on the camera.
Just a few shots from today.
Capture of a lifetime, landing osprey with its wings out:
Pelicans:
Coyote:
Chucked $250 free play into UX and got this [emoji23]
WE BACK BABY!!!
where did you see pelicans??
Wow Muck, those are some nice images.
I liked the wildlife photos too. 😀
I thought pelicans lived at the ocean.
Where was that? I didn't know Vegas had any rivers nearby, except the colorado.
Lake Mead area, where the Las Vegas wash flows into Lake Mead. It’s a water purification system that flows from Vegas into Lake Mead. Pelicans live anywhere where there is water, including lakes and rivers.
Fantastic pics Muck! Even I had no idea that pelicans were in that area.
This is the Las Vegas Wash from a distance for those wondering and some perspective:

The pelicans are at a place called 33 hole overlook, down to the left of the trailhead. They are not resident, they are migrating and are staying in the area a couple of weeks/months and will probably be gone next month. This is the area:
edit: it’s still really worth going as there are a ton of different species of birds and animals apart from pelicans
And for some poker updates, just played the craziest hand of the trip.
Open AJo to 20 over a straddle, sb calls and straddle calls. Flop is JJ3, two spades. I’ve got ace of spades. I down bet to 25, sb calls and straddle jams for $600 (!!!!!). I snap call, sb folds and I’m good vs J8 after clean runout. Currently up over $800.
Bingo bango
Might want to take a break and hit BJ for a quick shoe
Keep it rollin
I am not one to play video poker, but am surprised to learn that discarded cards are available to be redrawn. Both the 7h (three times) and the 4s (in the jackpot hand) were redrawn, despite being discarded.
(Oops...upon further inspection, it doesn't look like we have a pic of the pre-draw holding. My bad!)

It wasn’t worth taking a pic as I only held one A and nothing else and no big multiplier.
I pussied out and took the W after 2 hours for a $1100 profit, and we are back in green again!
Awesome work! Keep it going!
Came for the poker, but loving the wildlife pics Muck!
Great TR as always!
Wishing you more rungood at the tables.
how did you find out about the wildlife areas?
I googled “birding tours Las Vegas” and came across this page:
The guy has been living here for over 10 years and is a wildlife photographer and a tour guide. I contacted him and he organised everything for an 8 hour tour.
wetlands of the Las Vegas Valley
Never thought I would see that quote, but I guess when the tunnels flood, it eventually goes somewhere.
