In other news
In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there are important, interesting or just plain weird things happening out there and a group of people can find these better than one.
I thought I would test with a thread for linking general news articles about "other news" and discussion. Perhaps it goes into the abyss that is page 2 and beyond, but it is worth a try.
Some guidelines:
- Try to find the "clean link", so that links to the news site directly and not a social media site. Avoid "amp-links" (google).
- Write some cliff notes on what it is about, especially if it is a video.
- It's not an excuse to make outlandish claims via proxy or link extremist content.
- If it's an editorial or opinion piece, it is polite to mark it as such.
- Note the language if it is not in English.
- There is no demand that such things be posted here, if you think a piece merits its own thread, then make one.
Good. Bloody nonce.
Former California 'Teacher of the Year' Jacqueline Ma sobbed in court as she pleaded guilty to having sexual relationships with two students, aged 11 and 12.
She faces 30 years to life in prison.
I’m surprised usually women get lighter sentences maybe it had to do with the age . I’m surprised these kids could perform sex at 11 and 12

she succeeded with the 11 year old
she got busted by the 12 year old who refused and eventually told his parents
she spent about a year grooming them with texts, asking them to film themselves masturbating for her, having them stay behind in her class and removing her top, etc
at one point on of the kids texted
"sometimes i think you forget i'm just a kid"
Mr. McBride
Looks like Biden and the wokesters got another plane.
In other news, it appears that Ilhan Omar actually did marry her brother.
wait searching the names you gave me many sources list those 2 + the Jo ellis trans person discussed by the radical in the above linked tweet, apparently as co-pilot. And that person was the one being trained (again; all apparentlly, just searching those names, can't vet the sources).
I read in this thread it is the co-pilot who talked with traffic control, did i get it wrong?
Guess i'll wait for a primary trustable news source like WSJ or FT or the like to come up with the actual details.
Without evidence, Trump blamed diversity after the crash, leading some to accuse Jo Ellis of being one of the pilots
After the crash, before valid explanations began to surface, Donald Trump blamed diversity. There is no evidence that diversity initiatives played any role in the crash, but that didn’t matter.
Ellis, 34, wasn’t involved in the crash in any way. But she is a Black Hawk pilot in the Virginia national guard. And she’s transgender.
In the immediate aftermath of the crash, two of the helicopter pilots killed were named, but the family of the third pilot initially elected to keep her name private, though she was later identified. Ellis was misidentified as the pilot in the in-between.
All of that makes you a real ****ing ****.

This is a damn good case study to understand the MAGA ecosystem for "news", and a warning to everyone in general about propagation of stories on social media. Going viral is driven by engagement, not facts.

Except it happens on a daily basis. They jump on the lie bandwagon until the wheels fall off, then they simply jump on the next one. Never ends.

It was pretty clear the day of and after the incident that Trump was speaking specifically about the FAA for demanding they hire more DEI air traffic controllers. He wasn't talking about the pilots. Someone must of told him the accident, even though the blackhawk was at fault, could have easily been avoided if the controller assigned to separate the helicopter from the airplane did a better job and we don't know who it was, maybe someone claimed "that was the guy no one wanted to hire because the other white guys they interviewed were much more qualified".

But the story was correct. Trump did blame diversity for the crash.
So, are you saying social media shouldn't propagate factual stories?
Except it happens on a daily basis. They jump on the lie bandwagon until the wheels fall off, then they simply jump on the next one. Never ends.
Well, sometimes they don't even jump off, as in this case:
The problem is that Trump made it up and people believed him, not that someone reported that he made it up
You don't have nearly enough information to say "he lied" without knowing who the controller was.
That's a very dumb thing to do without knowing what the facts are, because once they come out you might end up looking like a fool.
The problem is that Trump made it up and people believed him, not that someone reported that he made it up
Well that and MAGA destroying an innocent person's life in a fit of self-induced frenzy based on their own fantasy realm.
For what it is worth, the problem is not that Brian James does not know this, like his post implicitly claims here:
Rather, he is merely doing good old "I will focus on a a simple summary that misconstrues the story about Trump's lies, MAGA's willingness to embellish them and any victims thereof". A tried and true tested tactic that is behind 80% of the Trump's success, because as a movement MAGA has seemingly given up object permanence.
And he does it to troll, illicit angry and frustrated responses and either proclaim moral victory through being abused or due to others not being in on the joke. Which isn't actually a joke, it just becomes a joke when observed in the real world, like some sort of politically deranged quantum state.
Saying we should wait for a primary source makes me what exactly? and btw the other pilot was a woman (curious the 2 men were immediatly identified, the woman only after days, no?), so the DEI possibility stays
Calling you a gullible consumer of far right propaganda would be false; you're one of the shameless spreaders of smear stories like this.
